From Destroyer to Savior

Another night jarred awake in a cold sweat. As she sat up in her bed, her chest was heaving as if she had just run a marathon. She brushed the hair from her face and took deep breaths trying to calm herself. It had been months since Iridana had been released from her captivity in the JT tower. She had started a relationship as a ‘mother’ to Cometgirl, however, it had been weeks with no word from her. Iridana was worried and her nightmares reiterated that every night.

Her bedroom was dark and a slight breeze crept in from the open window. The curtains fluttered and danced in the moonlight. Slowly her anxiety started to dissipate, allowing her to put her head back down on the pillow.

“Where are you, Dia?” She asked herself as she stared at the ceiling. With a jolt she sat up instantly again as a disembodied voice filled her room. The voice echoed but seemed far away. Iridana jumped from her bed and slammed the windows closed. It did not stop the voice.

“Iridana, you’ve done evil. Created to be evil, yet, you have fought that very nature… And won.” The voice said.

“Show yourself, coward!” she demanded not listening to the words spoken to her. She spun around looking the entire room over but found nothing. Iridana began charging her hands with red radiation in preparation for a fight that would not come.

“Iridana, there is much more for you to do. You have given up the ways of the destroyer. Now you must take up the mantle of healer.” The voice continued. Iridana calmed herself again and let the radiation drop from her hands. She could now sense the entity and the pureness that was it.

“But my powers, they do not heal, only kill.” She explained. Iridana looked down at the floor as she spoke. She did not want these powers of destruction. She wanted to be mother to Dia and a healer of the world rather than a destroyer.

“If you permit, I can change that. I can infuse your body with new powers, powers to heal. All you have to do is open your heart to me.” The voice came back. It took the woman a few seconds to ponder then she slowly nodded her head.

“Okay.” She whispered. In an instant the house was filled with bright white light. The house shook and rumbled as Iridana screamed. Her power was being drained of the radioactive powers and replaced with something else. It started to feel good, feel right. With a final infusing of white energy, Iridana passed out.

She woke sometime later and when her eyes cleared she saw her new self for the first time. She was radiating white healing power. Instead of the radioactive glowing monster, there stood a pure white glowing angel. Though she was taken back by this new form, she accepted it fully. With renewed determination she set out to find Dia and show her what she had become.
