Re: Supergirl Season 2 reviews

I can say this....

SPOILER BELOW ****************************

So happy that she friend ZONED Jimmy! About time. Also, I am worried that with Kal staying, it will take away focus on Supergirl. And if it doesn't, it would diminish Superman. So they are stuck between a rock and a hard place here. Glad I am not writing it.

I am not so sure about L Corp yet. The sister of Lex? Yeah, not sure about her yet. The drone attack things were a joke, and the fact one knocked Supergirl out of the sky made me go "huh?" But I could see why they used it. To get Kara and Kal to work together. I am afraid there will be a lot more of those scenes in the weeks to come.

All in all... I loved the season premier. I was SQUEEEEING the whole time, and I hope that you enjoyed it too.

- Kara

Re: Supergirl Season 2 reviews

So after reading Kara's review I... AGREE with her for the most part! Shocker right?!

THe show itself feels tighter than when it was on CBS. Not only THAT but now I can see it wasn't the actors, it was the writing, the show seems to flow better now and this first episode was better than much of season 1.

So im optimistic.

NOW the downside...

I feel like this show won't be about Supergirl as the hero of a city. CW likes to turn all their "hero" shows into "scooby doo"/Buffy shows with gangs of people all helping out.

Also it seems strange Clark would not had warned Kara about DEO long ago, especially if he knew they kept kryptonite.

Either way im optimistic!

Sadly, Jimmy will get a super suit... WTF?

Also, did you notice his gooey eyes he had for Lexa? I see that as a thing now. And I think that Supergirl will get hurt bad next episode, and have to take a step back and be Kara Danvers, while they play Superman more.

What do you think?

Re: Supergirl Season 2 reviews

okay so I watched. and here's my review.

1. The show looked vastly more well put together. the idea of the episode was fairly simple, get characters established and people on board for a strong start.

Did the episode accomplish that goal? yes, very much. I personally felt more connected to every character. Wynn felt alittle bit disconnected and out of place.

the entire cast seemed much more happy otherwise. the Acting much more natural. the effects saw an improvement, even the dialog was improved and made less "girl power" filled. there was only really one scene that was "risking" the possibility of this and it was more of a "Chase your dreams, don't be afraid to do new things" feel to it rather than the CBS scripting they had.

Now, onto the nity gritty, Superman. did the man of steel feel overpowering? No. actually I loved him. Which is saying volumes because in every aspect of the character I have despised Superman with a passion, Save for only one version.. but this version, this version of Superman was down to earth, he was a strong presence but not an overpowering one. His actor looked good fitting in with the show. His costume was not outlandish and "bad" I am a little concerned with his continued presence at first, but after seeing the episode. I think that they nailed it. if they leave superman alone and let him be just like in the first episode. and he'll be perfect, he was there when the scene felt right, he didn't just show up because Superman. and he didn't heavily overpower the other characters. I think he was a well place character in the episode. Honestly he felt alot like the only Superman I really actually liked. and that version was the same actor who cameoed on the CBS pilot episode. Lois and Clark the adventures of Superman was perhaps one of the only likable TV adaptions of Superman I actually liked. and this new adaptation looked and felt very much like that.

Now, the bad.

I think, personally the episode seemed a little bit busy, and hard to follow if you weren't in the know.

looking at it from a view point of someone who didn't watch on CBS, Wynn made no sense there was no real feeling or connection. Why was he in DEO? How did he find out about J'onn? Why was his Father brought up like we're supposed to know? Why does he have to come off as a spazzing fan girl when talking to Clark? If you've not watched the CBS episodes then you'll be completely lost about him.

James (Jimmy) Olsen, I've said it once I've said it a hundred times.. Why? Not Why is he black? but Why is he such a distant character? I think he was very disconnected in the episode. and for such a big character in the CBS season it's like he took a major script pull back. I get Kara Friend zoning him. that was a very good call on the writers part, but it was almost like even though his script was saying "You knew this was coming, be happy she's trying to close that out before you get hurt." He came off as though he wanted it to last. I didn't really like that much, because it didn't really fit with the episode.

Lara Luthor. Is she good or bad? What happened to Max Lord? Didn't he have a massive place as the bad guy? Why even bother with the Luthors to begin with? Furthermore Lex's sister? I found that kind of a lame cop out. I mean, They could have done anything with that but because it's not just Superman we get the Discount Luthor add in who was adopted? Also who the hell in the luthor family would want to kill her? seriously If Lex liked her so much and trusted her enough to put her in charge like that, he wouldn't stab her in the back just because he's in jail and "you changed the company name!"

the effects, while they were better, and more believable... no, they still felt a little too faked
it's on CW now, the Superhero big boys channel.. I've seen them do better effects for Arrow and flash.. lets share the love. One effect issue... J'onn. Not one of his better looks.. I liked the first showing of the CBS J'onn. and I understand it's not about J'onn and it is a TV show. but he did look a little less like himself. Maybe it's just the person that worked on him in the episode. but I hope they do better.

All in all I loved the show, it was really really good. I think it'll be around for a good long time on CW where in CBS it would be dead and gone already. So I'm looking forward to so much more in the future. and the weak or bad spots of the show will pull away more and more each episode until it's great.

Yes. I actually think that's going to be the plan for a few episodes going forward. She'll get hurt bad, and it'll be up to J'onn, Jimmy, and Superman to "Save the day", as Kara explores being a normal "reporter".

I also wish they'd taken her in a different direction than a reporter. It's like they really ARE making a female Superman.

To me Supergirl was always her own, distinct character. she was a bit naieve, optimistic, snarky when it came to being in such a "backwards" world like Earth. I mean to HER she went from super advanced Krypton to mudball earth. I liked that in her earlier comics and you could always feel the snark coming through her character.

But we'll see.

As Sharr said, the writing is much better now and it all feels more natural, so i'll give it a chance since i liked it MUCH MUCH more than last season. And yeah there's a lot of people who may have no idea of whats going on.

didn't see all of the episode, was tuning in and out. Since they decide to throw all these kryptonians in the first season, there is a reason for Superman to show up. But like I said before, they were already turning the show into another Superman from season 1. Maxwell Lord should of been called Lex Luthor with hair.

Glad they decide not to do a relationship between Kara and Jimmy right now, if it's still in the plans in the future. So sounds like they need every excuse to force Jimmy into the plot, just like Lois from the Man of Steel and BVS.

Fyi, the guy who is playing Superman, recognized him from the show Seventh Heaven.

I could be wrong, but isn't Lex's sister Lena an actual character in the comics?
Also she's played by Katie McGrath who was a stone-cold badass as Morgana in BBC's Merlin, so it wouldn't surprise me if she turns out to be evil to play to Katie's strengths.

Anyway, to add my two cents, SO GLAD that she friend-zone James. Those two continue to have ZERO chemistry! Little disappointed about Kal sticking around, but given the show's feminist elements, I doubt the writers will have Kara take the backseat to anyone. Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

I think that the feminist ideas were mainly due to being on CBS. I think CW will take a different spin on it. You could tell by how Kal held Kara, and she acted like she needed him, more than he needed her. It just felt more like family to me, than anything feminist though. I liked the chemistry she had with Clark.

Again, I think "friend zoning" James was the best thing for the show, right now. She needs to figure out how she is, not date random hot guys.

In truth, I am expecting a major makeover for Kara Danvers, to include a wig and no more glasses. She said she needed to explore who Kara is, and I noticed also that Cat called her... Kara. Finally, got her name right. It is like Kara finally grew up, in her eyes.

Ughhhhhhhhhhh!

SPOILER ALERT

RANT ALERT!!

Two weeks in a row now, and this show is not even about Supergirl. Last week was Martians, and this week is about Mon El (needs to die from lead poisoning) and James (should have been killed already) oh and of course CW dances around the thought that Alex may or may not be a lesbian. Come on. Either she is or not. Stop with that dance.

Oh yeah, Supergirl was in it, just to be a tank. All she did is get tossed around and use heat vision for... who knows why actually. It made no sense. Supergirl, do not use heat vision on the laser light. Go around it and cut off his hands!

Gaaaaaaaaah!

When is Supergirl going to be about her again? I do not care about these others in the show. They should be background, not focus.

/RANT ALERT OFF
