Re: □Midway Makings□

Frey, and Nessa had their mentions. But Hayden's attention was focused on the mystical Golden Helm. Especially after it....inspected...his treasured find! A find that brought more than curious ocurrence to Mr. Rice in the recent past.

"Hey now!" Rice shrieked to Synodic. Standing up took more effort than Hayden would normal need.

"I...dont know...who....any of you people are! But it's getting really ....old.....having everyone from the Moon coming after me over this clunky antique!" Struggling to make his way to the seemingly floating lamp before Synodic. Hayden would try to recover the Lantern once he made upon it.

"And...your friend..who punched me in the chops is REALLY lucky too! I was raised NEVER to hit a woman..." the soreness in his face still burning dashed with a great deal of embarassment.

Dr. Synodic did know the name Frey, though not in the context of a person who would be standing among them. Frey was certainly just as much a curiosity as the lantern spinning slowly in front of the 'caster. He acknowledged the 'man' but silently as he contemplated one Source of power at a time. "This... this is more than a simple lamp," he said more for Nessa's benefit than anyone's. "But you would be correct -it does not belong to me-."

He turned his hand back towards Hayden and the lantern floated away from him and back to the man that had recently discovered it. Hayden's words hung over Synodic with a greater weight than intended. "From the Moon indeed --- perhaps the power confined by this shell has already divined upon you a greater-than-Earthly knowledge, Hayden Rice. But be forewarned... we happened upon you today but there are others who will certainly seek you out with more prejudice," he warned. "This is no simple bauble to be taken lightly if my perceptions of the object are true."

Frey gave a slight bow to the three others occupying the platform with him. The interruption of the train ensured the woman would have gotten away. He did not believe in coincidence... they would meet again. For now though Frey felt the need to return to Alfheim to rest and regain his strength. The boy needed to be protected as well. Without this vessel he would lose one of his last connections to the mortal plane and potential worshipers. "Well now that all is well or at least calm, I shall take my leave of you all." He looked over to each of them, the Lightbearer, bearer of the Horned Helm, and Nessa. Frey could feel the threads of fate pulling them together, a knot forming. "Well met each of you... especially you Nessa," he gave her a wide smile. ".. the Fates will bring us together again that is for certain. This city, like Midgard of old. is wracked with darkness and evil. We have the chance to bring Light to those dwell in darkness and Justice to those who have none."

Nessa folded her hands behind her back and watched the lamp float back to its owner. She looked around, nodded with satisfaction that no one else was present to hurt her or the other three, then looked back to Rice. "Well. If you boys are alright on your own, I'll be leavin'. I think Trudy would have me head if I had all the fun."

Nessa smiled and shook her head quickly. Her red hair faded to a dark brown and her freckles disappeared. Blue eyes replaced Nessa's green ones.

With a wave, the girl standing before the three with an innocent smile. "Hi there, friends. My name is Trudy. Nice to meet you all."

Hayden's face crunched up in resilient disbelief. Unable to dismiss or keep quiet over the groups dismissing of such odd and dangerous event.

"Hang on...WAIT A DANG MINUTE, now!" He yelled out to the three. Though, counting Synodic's ....presence...was a mystery unto itself.

"I was almost KILLED (again) tonight. And if NONE of you were with that bi....that lady who suckerpunched me....then its clear as to what this is!" He declared, as though his notion was clearly apparent to everyone the same.

"We were MEANT to meet tonight. And...my secret little junk toy here has got NOTHING on what any of you have going." His eyes scanning each. From Frey the gigantic mythological cretin, to Synodic and its... well...that Helmet...and Nessa, Trudy...whatever WHOEVER she is. He absolutely LOVED the notion of tying these odds and end players together.

"Come on...the worlds falling apart around us...and all the big tops cant seem to keep things in line, ya know? We can let those girls and guys have the fame. Let Batman scare Gotham straight, keep SuperLady and man doing whatever they all do in Metropolis. Fish guy....he can...you know...save the whales. But....us...the Home team....we can do the dirty bits. The parts nobody talks about. Stuff no One group wants. And start here in....wait for it gang....In MIDWAY!?"

Something deep within Dr. Synodic seemed amused at listening to Frey speak of the darkness and the light but the helmet conveyed no emotion, just seeping azure mist. Synodic's ethereal benefactors urged him to act; staying close to this trio would be an opportunity not to be missed. He turned as Nessa spoke and listened to the woman of shattered identity say her piece. Her metamorphosis was quick but noticeable and Synodic contemplated the source of that ability. Was Nessa/Trudy a meta? Was this more magic at work? He would not have the chance to inquire as Hayden Rice drew all their attention to his ranting.

"Midway is my home," Dr. Synodic stated outright. "A dark presence has found its way into its nooks and cavities. I have been empowered to study its origins and determine its capacity for growing... a magical urban decay that could consume all of it -and us- and potentially expand to encompass all of civilization. I have been charged to act... and it may be you all have as well. I would welcome the opportunity to study this -and whatever else may pass- with your assistance."

"Indeed Hayden Rice, you understand the importance and gravity of what has occurred this night." The Norse warrior turned tot he wizard. "So another thread of coincidence. that there should be a threat from the Hel's dank underworld that gnaws at the root of this place like Nidhogg does Yggdrasil." He turned to Trudy. "And well met to you as well Trudy...and where did your friend go?"

Trudy's kind smile remained in place as the helmeted hero, this Hayden Rice character, and the big Frey discussed the universe's intension of them meeting, and the importance of this grouping. She, however, wasn't the one who sensed anything. However, she knew that coincidence was just an idiots excuse for things that happen in their life.

When asked about her friend, Trudy turned to Frey. "She said her job was done. So she went home. So I came to take her place." She replied. Her eyes were wide and innocent looking, but somehow out of place in her own body. "She told me to tell you all that it was nice to meet you. And, if all of you think that we met for a purpose, I'd be more than happy to stick it out with this group for a while."

Unsure of his own "rally cry", Hayden had just went in the moment. Since his finding of the curious Lamp, not so long ago. He had also discovered certain mystical properties that arrived with it? Properties that he needed to master. But most of all...to make a difference. Doing so would be impossible alone however.

He would need support and trust. But when tonight transpired, it was clear as could be!

Skepticism, and rationale was absconded from his psyche after the very first time the object made him fly. His doubt ushered away, in the moment. As well.... as did the angry gunmen out to get him. Had this jade curiousity not come to him in the railyard that night. He would have died. But the spherical protection provided a sanctuary. Allowing him a perservered threshold.

"I have never bet on anything but a sure thing. Heck...maybe im just naive....but....this thing can work. Here, take my number. Call me after you think things through." He offered everyone there.

Re: □Midway Makings□

"I can do one better," Dr. Synodic declared. He closed his left fist and looked to it as a trio of heartbeats passed. The lights in the transit dock dimmed until barely lit and a wisp of darkness swirled around the closed hand like a frightened beast. The lights resumed their usual glow and the spellcaster opened his hand, beckoning the others to look.

"Each of you take a shard if you mean to add your talents to the group and not act alone in the approaching trying times. When the test comes, simply shatter your shard... the others will activate and lead you magically to the place where the one was broken."

Once everyone had collected their sliver of purple glass, Dr. Synodic returned his hand and arm to his side and bowed his head. "I will take me leave of you... until we meet again." The appearance of the navy and gold man of magic and the background of the dock behind him shook and then twisted in on itself into something that look like a swirl or crescent. When its revolution was complete, the picture of the dock was restored but the form of Dr. Synodic had departed.
