She danced with the broom as if it were het partner. She twirled and hopped, having a great time as the music blared throughout the loft. The place was covered in dust as Penny had not been home in over a year. She had been traveling the world and enjoying the first vacation she ever had. It had revitalized the girl and the succubus within. She was now back in Metropolis, back in the Love Nest, her loft which she had missed terribly. She had yet to see any of her friends, but the new clued her in that there had been bad goings on in Metropolis, Gotham and Seattle. Penny decided it was nothing new, just heroes and villains letting off steam. She was dead wrong. Penny went about her business and cleaned the loft from top to bottom. When she was finished and admiring her handy work, her head started to throb. The pain became more and more intense until the girl was slouched on the floor grasping her head with both hands. It was not common but sometimes her psychic powers gave Penny visions of things to come. They were always painful and never good. This was one such time for her. She pressed her eyes shut and tried to ignore the pain unsuccessfully. When Penny opened her eyes she was not sure where she was or what she was seeing. There was devastation all around her. Buildings fallen and crumbled to debris, old rotting bodies strewn about and a definitive feeling of dread filled the air. What looked like small explosions in the sky drew her eyes upward. It took a moment but finally the succubus was able to keep up with the movements in the sky. What she saw not only shocked the demon but actually made her sick to her stomach. In the air, Power Girl and Thunder Girl were using the battered and broken body of Supergirl as a volleyball. The two seemed to be having a wonderful time slamming Supergirl back and forth to each other. The pair were laughing and making snide comments to Supergirl as they punched her to one another. Penny could not even tell if Supergirl was conscious enough to hear their remarks. Suddenly and at least initially for no apparent reason, the two dropped Supergirl to the ground and sped off together. Supergirl’s limp body fell from the sky shooting up quite the dust cloud as it impacted the rubble below. Moments later the ground began to rumble. Penny looked around to see a large shadow creeping along the rubble covering everything as it grew. Attached to the shadow was an extremely large ship, no more like a floating fortress. It’s smooth obsidian sides showed no signs of any detail at all. A loud hum came from the ship and the ground danced beneath it. Penny felt it was time to move on and get away from this ship. She sped along the ground, over rubble and debris and around collapsed buildings. Something caught her eye and she stopped to look. She saw Granite Quarry moping around in a small area he had cleared of rubble. He was stacking chunks of concrete and metal seemingly making himself a small house. Though Penny could not interact with anyone in the vision, she could hear them just fine. Granite seemed very sad as he worked. He mumbled to himself “I coodent save ‘em. Any of ‘em.” It was obvious that if he had the ability to cry, he surely would. “Day all dead and I coodent stop it. Why did I get dis strength if it coodent help de innocent?” He was asking himself. Penny was saddened so much that she ran off with tears in her eyes. What kind of future was this? What happened to create such an awful place out of the once beautiful Earth? These were good questions that Penny could not yet answer. The further she moved the worse things got. She watched as small bands of raiders fought and killed one another. Some were metas while others were plain humans, but all of them were dirty and not well kempt. Penny was left wondering how far in the future was this. That was when that very large ship came to her general location. It was so large that it could be seen from anywhere in the city ruins. An image of a shadowed woman’s face appeared on the bottom of the smooth obsidian looking ship. A booming voice was heard and Penny was sure it was heard throughout what remained of the city. “Remember, let someone know if you see a superpower. Only together can we put the pieces back together and take back our human world.” The speech seemed to be a recording as it looped and started over again and again as the ship passed by. “Superpowers caused our ruin. Report Superpowers right away. Our Earth is for humans.” The voice was confident yet soft as it spoke. “What? How did this happen?” She asked herself. She noticed that people started coming out of their hiding spots as the ship passed over. The crowds started mumbling something about “She is here.” And “It’s her.” Penny had no idea what they were talking about but as she looked up at the ship she saw the shadows start to fall away from the face. Penny woke up on the floor of the loft. She was alone again and the vision was gone, though the pounding migraine was a sure sign that it had happened. Penny was confused and scared. She had no idea how that future happened but she knew it must be stopped. She liked the world the way it was and certainly did not want it to turn into the living hell she had seen. “I’ve gotta call bombshell!” Penny thought. She grabbed up her cell and started to dial an old number that Power Girl had given her some time ago. As it rang, Penny became more and more antsy. “Come on. Pick up. Pick up dammit.” nondisclosed_email@example.com (Persuasa)Wed, 16 Nov 2016 13:43:24 +0000
