Re: Event Zero - Metropolis (Open to All, Still Room for More!)

The pirate jumped out of the way right as the dog's maw almost clamped down on her. Her eyes were wide, she almost was eaten! “Holy moly!” she shouted as her partner had already fled as well. The gravity anchors didn't need them to hold it, she as well fled.

“Ma'am! The anchors won't hold much longer! It's far stronger than we thought!” she said. The woman with the skull and crossbones on her shirt frowned and walked towards the two women. “It's fine. They can handle it now. And if they can't...” She would say something loudly, ensuring everyone around could hear her.

“If they can't stop it. We cannot let this creature rampage through this city. Tell the Arcadia to prepare for light orbital bombardment with heavy ion cannons focused on our area. They have... 10 minutes to sort it out. Better to lose a few miles than let this thing rampage.”

The pirate queen said. She knew Marie, Aegis, and everyone would hear it and know the intention.

Re: Event Zero - Metropolis (Open to All, Still Room for More!)

The footfalls of the Titanosaur could be heard for miles. In the immediate vicinity of the monster fight, windows blew out, water and gas mains blew and the streets for several square blocks became a scene of chaos. The confusing blend of scents confused the netted Beast but as the Titanosaur took to the air in its massive leap, the multiversal beast attempted to jump backward out of its path. The nets restrained its full jump but beneath its strength, the anchors placed by Queen Emeraldas' pirates tore from the ground.

Switching out her talents for those of the Tyrannosaurus Rex, Vixen's swipe dug out a chunk of hair and flesh from the beast's side. It roared with terrible pain and inhaled deeply out of instinct. It bellowed a second time, but this one full of flame and liquid spittle like burning plasma. It would burn whatever it touched, to include the net that was still draped over the Beast. It shook violently as the burning net caused it more pain but soon the net would be free as it was already falling off one of its flanks.

The Royal Aegis was astounded by the strength of Vixen, who hadn't changed mass to reflect the size or effectiveness of her blows. He dashed to Queen Emeraldas upon hearing her stern warning and though layered and concealed in red and white armor, he pleaded his case. "Eight minutes and forty-two seconds. It's all we need," Royal informed the queen. As long as that device I planted on it doesn't come off, it'll carry the Beast out of here. I don't think you'll need that orbital strike and... since I am standing here in its path, I REALLY hope you agree!"

Event Zero - Metropolis (Open to All, Still Room for More!)

(The title was just too tempting not to attempt a cameo. Hope you lot don't mind this intrusion.)

"Samuel. I think you'll want to see this." a woman's voice spoke.

"What is it..." a cold cacophony of metallic grinding replied. "I'm quite BUSY right now."

"Then make time. I'm sending you the video feed."

In a dark, damp basement located in Gotham City, a pair of searing yellow slits hovered above a holographic computer screen. On it, a live broadcast of Metropolis, City of Tomorrow.

"Sarah, if you wanted to show me the scenic sights of Metropolis, you could have just gotten a postcard," the cacophonous voice pointed out with a vitriolic note so obvious it was practically palpable.

"Just wait."

Then, a few seconds later, a creature of some sort came into view. A massive lizard, perhaps. No. It was more than that.

"Is [sign in to see URL] that a Tyranosaurus Rex?" the cacophonous voice asked.

"Technically, it might be."

Now a third slit lit up in the darkness, just below the two previous ones. This one was shaped into a lying, crooked half moon shape. The three slits made up a classic Jack O' Lantern smile.

"Well, darling, you're absolutely correct. I don't want to miss a MOMENT of this."

Re: Event Zero - Metropolis (Open to All, Still Room for More!)

Steel Regent scanned the area for anything that might help to slow the creature down even a little. Anything that would by the other’s time to take it down is helpful for sure. That is when scanners found the huge crane wrecking ball at a nearby construction site. That gave the girl an idea. “Regent, prepare a nano dart. Program for electronic control.” She requested as she hovered over the combat zone. A moment later the computer voice replied. “Probe ready for launch.”

“Perfect.” She said as she aimed a gauntlet at the crane. With a ‘thwip’ the dart raced off toward the target. It impacted the controls of the crane and began delivering its payload. “Nano bytes, deployed. Controls coming online.” As the computer spoke the crane started up and came to life seemingly on its own. “Here we go!” The girl said as she calculated the strike from the crane’s ball into the creature.

The crane first dropped the huge wrecking ball nearly to the ground before beginning a circular motion to send it hurling toward the creature with immense force. The wrecking ball whizzed through the air and slammed into the side of the creature with quite the impact. The thud could be heard for blocks. The crane retracted the ball and set itself up for a second swing. “Regent, find a soft spot for the second impact.” The girl requested. As she did the creature’s tail whipped at her and slapped her out of the air. Her armor suit slammed into the adjacent building and skidded across the floor of an office until finally coming to a halt. Inside her HUD flickered a moment from the crash before returning to normal.

“Scanning bio signs. Minor contusions, abrasions and single laceration of the left scapula. Medical assistance is recommended.” The computer told the girl inside. Not like she couldn’t feel the damage. “Ru… Run diagnostics.” The girl asked. She huffed as she waited for the reply. The attack had also knocked the wind out of her. Finally, the computer responded. “Main power at [sign in to see URL] percent of maximum. Micro missiles depleted. Outer armor compromised in the upper rear section. Remaining weapon systems functioning normally. Communication to Nano bytes has been severed. Nano bytes have defaulted to standby mode.” The computer reported. She knew this would leave the crane running but unmoving and no help to them until she could reestablish contact with the Nano bytes.

The girl slowly raised herself up from the ground. She was not willing to give up. She had to aid those still fighting the beast and the beast had to be stopped. “Regent, bypass standard control transmission and reestablish contact with the Nano bytes.” She requested. “Working.” Came the reply.

In this form she was not fast, at all. So when the burning plasma flew towards her she jumped out of the side, but the “Tyranosaurus” weight hit the adjacent building and caused part of it to collapse on top of her. “AHHHH!” she covered her form, quickly changing to grab the feat of the rock turtle's tough shell and the feat of the American Badger, the fastest digging animal in the world which can even dig through asphalt.

For now though, she was buried, stuck under several tons of rubble from the collapsed building. The other heroes, at least at the moment, would be completely on their own now.

Kara's arms crossed as she watched the beast break free from the gravity holds and the “dinosaur” enhanced woman seem to go toe to toe with it for now. When the armored man asked for time, she nodded to him and would suddenly take off in a full on sprint, grabbing a child who had been watching the fight a bit too closely as the plasma fire flew towards him.

“Don't stand idle in a battle scene as your life depends on it child.” she said to the kid. Her otherworldly beauty made the kid kind of blush before he nodded and then ran off. She would speak again to her crew.

“Send a shuttle from the Arcadia. Run it in stealth mode to protect it from the humans and to protect the humans from you lot.” She would say.

((Excellent cameo, Pyre, thanks emoticon ))

The Beast, a thing from another universe, had been concerned with the Titanosaur and then the Tyrannosaurus Rex but while the dinosaur seemed to disappear inside the rock slide of building debris, it advanced and sniffed at the slope of concrete, refuge and rebar. It was too distracted to sense the approach of the wrecking ball until it slammed into its side, already injured by the bite wound. Its abdomen soaked up the full force of the hit and while its size and mass kept it from being knocked over, internally the damage was massive. It shrieked like a wounded animal and darted aside then watched the ball sail away. Now it was something akin to a cat's toy and the beast launched after it. Even without Steel Regent's active connection, the Beast leapt for the wrecking ball tenderly and swatted at it with one of its paws, sending it careening into the side of yet another Tomorrow District building. It watched the ball on a string sail through the air and backed away with a noticeable hitch in its step and then reared its head toward its side where the ball had struck it.

On the ground, Royal Aegis watched Steel Regent's form punch into the side of a building and land somewhere inside. "Ouch," he said sympathetically. He then looked over to the slope of broken concrete and didn't see Vixen anywhere. They were losing numbers and, after checking the timer in his helmet's heads-up-display Royal saw they still had over four minutes.

The rather out of place pirate woman ran off to see about casualties and without any more stern warning about an aerial attack so Royal joined the fray. There was a spark of blue and violet from the Beast's side as the timer reached the four minute mark, the device frozen to its side arming itself and beginning to sync with the creature's vibrations. Royal rose a hand into the air and a blast of zero point energy erupted between the sides of the building on the left side of the street and the Beast, preparing a shield wall for the pirate Queen.

The Beast, meanwhile, watched the wrecking ball sail back toward it and raised a paw to smack it again but then saw the runners on the ground and the wall of ice begin to form. It's curiosity piqued, it began to sniff the air and approach.
