The SRA Riot (Anyone Welcome to Join)

What had started as a peaceful protest had quickly devolved into a riot. Some of the people were protesting the newly suggested SRA (Superpower Registration Act), while others were there in full support of the initiative. Things had been getting loud and heated for a bit and the Metropolis Police Riot Squad was called in. They quickly disembarked from their armored vans and took up position trying to keep the two factions from engaging each other physically. At first they were able to maintain civility.

Not far from the scene a dark limousine was sitting at the side of the road. The occupant watched the situation unfold with curious amusement. She had planned the event for both sides and had riled up both sides. Now it was time to sit back and watch her plan come to fruition. The more chaos the world saw having to deal with superpowers, the quicker she would be able to get the world governments to agree to the SRA. She lifted a glass of champagne to her lips for a small sip before turning her attention to the scene outside again.

By this point there was a lot of yelling and spots of violence broke out, but so far the police were handling it. That was until the Molotov cocktails started flying. Bottles exploded into fireballs burning everything in their path. People scattered but not without getting their punches in. It did not take long until the riot was in full force. Cars were set ablaze as puddles of blood began to flow in the street. The large crowd was too much for the Riot Police to handle. The situation was out of control.

Desiree nodded to the driver of her limousine to go. With that the vehicle pulled away and accelerated. “Perfect. Now all we need are some heroes to come try to quiet the riot.” Desiree chuckled to herself as she was driven out of the area. She had a surprise for any would be hero that might show up to assist the police. “Oh the chaos is palatable.” She said with a smile on her face. She pulled her sunglasses back down over her eyes and enjoyed another sip of her champagne all the while the riot was growing and growing.

(Hope you don't mind me jumping in again.)

Johnny Geiger sat on the railing of a fire escape, overlooking the riot. He lit a "special cigarette" and leaned his elbows on his knees, watching the goings on of the divided public. The cops kept both sides at bay, but for how long?

Through the chants, Johnny pieced together the opinions of both sides over this... Superpower Registration Act. It really wouldn't effect him much, he figured. He kept off of the radar, for yhr most part, and his only super power was being ugly as sin. But to him, people had a right to their opinion and could protest if they wanted to.

Taking a long drag of his smoke, he watched the shouting and threats get worse, escalating in magnitude until it bubbled over and a molotov cocktail was hurled from one side to another. Now that... that wasn't right.

As the riot escalated to near pandemonium, Johnny jumped from the fire escape and landed on the pavement below. He fixed his pirate coat and hat, and moved into the fray of people. He targeted the wounded or helpless, leading them to safety out of the mass of chaos. Alone, he couldn't begin to stop this big of a group. Maybe with some back up...

Re: The SRA Riot (Anyone Welcome to Join)

As much as she wanted to avoid this situation, to pretend as though people in the world didn't wish to attempt to strip each other from the freedoms that make the world of Earth such a unique place, Thundergirl couldn't simply allow such things as riots to go without an answer.

With all the drama from the thought that it was simply a means for some of the less reputable individuals vouching to make their points the status quo in the United States, she found herself landing amidst the riots and managed to catch a bottle from both sides being flung. At which she'd blow out the flames to the molotov cocktails and set them down as she walked between the two groups.

Even as Johnny landed as well she crossed her arms and nodded toward him before placing her fingers between the corners of her lips and blew out a super powered shreak of a whistle. After a moment everyone stopped in place and she cleared her throat. "Alright, this is no way to handle a situation people. Last time I checked America was a place where ideas and views could be discussed without violence and destruction brought on by the expression divided tensions." As she stood she looked to Johnny and smiled as she offered a hand toward him. "Thundergirl, second in command of the Justice Tribunals and Kryptonian defender of Earth. It's a pleasure to see someone else defending the innocent and injured. I'll do what I can to keep things calm and let you get your work here done."

That said she let Johnny continue to work to get people to safety whether he shook her hand or not and turned back toward the crowds. "Now then I heard what all this is about and I understand the fear from both sides. While a free nation should not chastise and label anyone with abilities that are different from others, we should not demand that the world simply show trust. So in light of this I am here to ask you, as one of your loved fighters for the good of the world. Please, revert to a peaceful means of communication. Open Peaceful discussion is a wonder of this country that others do not receive the complete luxury of. Lets not ruin that with violence."

As she spoke she didn't show aggression or even the slightest bit of distrust toward either side of the riot, but as she moved and spoke she looked to each person she could see and spoke. "People, I wish to beg of you, please find among yourselves a representative who can come forward now. This way we as a unified people can speak without harming the innocent or causing massive amounts of property damage that isn't called for."

As she tried to keep the groups calm she looked about and kept a watch out for Johnny, making sure he was okay in trying to get people to safety. In doing so she made sure that if any of the injured and innocent were in harms way she'd quickly be the first to move in and take the attack or danger on herself so that no one was further injured.

A puff of dark smoke appeared behind Johnny. Out from the shadowy cloud stepped a lanky, red-skinned succubus, wings protruding from her back.

As she carefully listened to the chaos erupting all around her, she pulls devilish grin, clearly exposing four sharp, white fangs.

Looking through the rushing croud, Gehruna suddenly spotted a face she recognized, turning her grin to a face of pure rage.

Pulling a string of hair from her gauntlets, she visibly readied herself for battle. Glaring to her right, she looked at Johnny with glowing red eyes, filled with anger.

And then, she opens her mouth to speak...

Re: The SRA Riot (Anyone Welcome to Join)

From the ledge of a rooftop overlooking the protest, Orbweaver let out a sigh of relief... at the toss of the first Molotov cocktail. "About damn time," he complained as he checked his watch before pulling the thin armored sheath back over his wrist. "Some people gotta work for a livin'," he added to none in particular. The yellow and black armored man didn't leap over the ledge but crawled over it and then scaled down the front of the building towards its entrance. He continued to scale silently, hands and feet affixed to the concrete of the building effortlessly.

Already the fires of the thrown incendiaries were extinguished, as the Second Command of the Justice Tribunals had arrived... and then promptly climbed up onto her soapbox. As the lecture and long winded righteous speech carried on, Orbweaver noted that the Kryptonian hero had drawn in the attention of the crowd. She had become the perfect distraction.

Still positioned on the side of the building he reached a hand out and a laser emitter on his wrist fired a lance of light at the storefront window. The cut glsas fell inward but the sounds of Thundergirl's booming voice and replies of disagreement or consent covered the sound. He crawled into the storefront and on its ceiling made his way toward the back.

"Fire sale... everything must go." He looked down and mistakenly made eye contact with the proprietor of this Jewelry Shop, who Orbweaver didn't expect to run into. A blast of toxic webbing slapped the man in the face and covered it, barely allowing gaps for him to breath. "Eye of Bastet, where is it?" Orbweaver asked.

The shop owner had been writhing on the floor but suddenly stopped and lazily lifted his arm -as if drugged- to point to a wall display, obviously a false one that would open. "That'll do, donkey, that'll do." Orbweaver turned toward the jewelry display when something outside caught his attention.

Re: The SRA Riot (Anyone Welcome to Join)

Desiree extended a very manicured finger and pressed a spot on the screen of her tablet. The screen flickered to life and a second later it showed the scene back at the riot spot. Her cloaked drone was spying on the scene for her and allowing her to keep tabs on the situation. She smirked a wicked grin when Thundergirl arrived on the scene. She was even more delighted to see that the riot had attracted others as well. It appeared as though both heroes and villains had arrived on the scene. This was better than she could have hoped for. Now all she had to do was wait for the surprise guest to show.

Meanwhile back at the scene, the crowds had stopped to listen to Thundergirl. Both sides had come to an instant cease fire as not one wanted to cross a Kryptonian. When the succubus appeared and made a beeline for Johnny it drove the crowd into a panicked state. People began running in all directions screaming. Some were trampled while others made off with things they had pick pocketed during the event. Even the Metropolis police riot squad backed off of the area. They were not equipped to deal with superpowers. The ensuing chaos was a perfect cover for Orbweaver to make his move as well. No one was paying attention to his stealthy maneuvers to enter one of the storefronts.

Desiree counted down from ten as her limo drove her uptown to her lavish penthouse. “Three, two, one.” She completed the countdown. “Here we go.” She muttered in approval to no one. As she reached zero a blur shot across the sky and stopped directly over the scene. The man was clad in what appeared to be Kryptonian armor which had ancient arcane symbols etched into it all over. The symbols were glowing a dull red as were his eyes as he surveyed the situation. Thundergirl might recognize the symbols as an ancient Kryptonian magic that had been outlawed and supposedly sealed away eons ago. His armor betrayed him as a member of General Zod’s army as well.

The man hovered down closer to the scene as the humans started to clear out. Most of them ran off but a few stayed in hiding either too afraid to run or too curious. Either way they were still in danger. The hovering man’s eyes locked on Thundergirl.

“It appears as though that human woman was correct.” He said to Thundergirl before continuing. “I am Nox of House Zar.” He introduced himself to the other Kryptonian. “I come with word from General Zod.” He continued. “This planet will be the new Krypton and you will help to see that become a reality.” Small bolts of red magical energy arced around his body from time to time. “First we must turn Kal-El or kill him.” Nox announced. His red eyes locked on Thundergirl again. “What say you sister? Join us? Or die?” He asked. Nox was aware that there were several Kryptonians here on Earth. His mission was clear. Turn them to the side of General Zod or destroy them. The Earth needed to be conditioned to be the new Krypton. This was his mission and he would stop at nothing to make it happen.

Desiree sipped from a glass of champagne as she watched intently. “This is better than reality TV.” She muttered, a large smile sitting on her face. Her fingers fiddled with the green amulet she wore on a chain around her neck. She knew the biggest threat to her plan were the aliens, especially if they did not destroy each other. The small amulet made of Kryptonite, would protect her from these aliens. It may not be enough to kill them or even stop them but it would be enough to deter them. That is all she needed for now. The limo pulled into a large underground garage underneath the building and parked. Her door was opened and she was assisted out of the vehicle. As she walked to the elevator her eyes never left the tablet. That is until she entered the penthouse. With a push of the screen the large wall screen came alive and the image was transferred there.

Johnny helped a young college student walk to a paramedic, his head split open from a nasty fall. He turned to head back into the chaos when he heard the sharp whistle. He watched as a new Kryptonian, Thundergirl, started to immediately calm the situation down. With a smile, he walked to her as she introduced herself.

He took her outstretched hand and shook it in his scarred one. "Johnny Geiger. Nice to meet ya." He said, his black, marble like eyes showing a bit of relief that the situation was quieted. He tipped his hat to her in thanks before she continued to talk to the people. He went back to helping anyone who needed a hand.

As he headed back into the crowd, he felt a presence manifest behind him. He turned and looked over his shoulder as he saw a red skinned monstrosity with sharp white teeth start to speak. "Lady, I know I ain't the prettiest thing to look at but... damn, you top me on the freaky factor." His eyes were wide and he sensed that this was no ordinary chick.

"You best watch your tongue if you desire my aid." Gehruna said to Johnny, while holding him in contempt.

"I may not be much of a looker to you, mortal, but I was spawned with great power"
As she stepped backwards slowly, Gehruna lifted her hands up above her head.

While she did this, her skin smoothened, her features became more human-like and her face more sweet.

The moment she lowered her hands, Gehruna had turned into a red-skinned human girl. Her body seemed like that of a teenager, roughly seventeen years of age.

"I'm not here to impress you, so don't think I'll save you from that" As she says this, she points at a large man trying to hide himself within the dense crowd. The man seems to be hallucinating, as he frantically looks around him.

"Time's ticking" Gehruna says with a grin.

blinking as she took a small moment to take in the situation. As she noticed the demon appear with Johnny, a sigh escaped her lips as she replied. "There's always one wandering about somewhere." From that she glanced over toward where the Jewelry store was being robbed. Without wasting time she used her Telescopic vision and lifted up just enough over the crowd that she wouldn't cause them any harm as fired off her heat vision toward the back door of the Jewelry Store so that she could weld the lock closed in the store that Orbweaver was in. After doing that she shouted. "Nice try spunky. You do know I can hear flies buzzing around a busy city street from the stratus sphere, right? I mean really, I'm Thundergirl. You'd think you'd have known me by now." With that she used her ice breath to build up a wall of solid ice where the window and doorway was in a means to trap Orbweaver in the store.

At that time she heard the incoming of Nox and turned to face him curiously. While listening to his words she held up a finger and replied. "Whoa whoa whoa, you've got this all wrong. I'm not even from your Krypton firstly, so I'd probably have to make the acquaintance of this General Zod. Besides, can't you see I'm busy trying to keep the humans from making huge mistakes that will cost thousands of lives but also place the risk of you and your generals lives in danger? I mean come on now, you couldn't possibly think that the human race doesn't have tools available to use against our kind? If you're part of General Zod's army, then I'm sure you've heard how they have pieces of your home world here? That stuff is the favorite weapon against our kind.. Look I get what you're doing, but don't you think it would be smarter to listen to what I have to say first?I mean your life could very well be in danger as well if they decide to use the weapons many here on this planet know to use on us. Just running in and making threats isn't going to change anything."

After finishing her speech, Thundergirl looked back toward the store and replied. "Look, here's the deal. You work with me and I'll look into working with you. But, if you work with me on this. You play by my rules, got it?" Still facing away from the man she was keeping an ear clued in on what Orbweaver was doing inside.

Just as Orbweaver had pulled open the false wall of the display to reveal the steel gray safe inside, two thin lances of heat and light split through the air. He ducked and side stepped, afraid the heat vision beams were aimed at him but when he looked back to the safe he saw what their actual target was. The metal was still orange from the heat-vision's intensity, oozing down the door's seam like runny orange snot.

"Awww come ON!" Orbweaver complained, slamming his hands against his yellow and black armored thighs. He turned back to the window with protest in his lungs. "You ain't got your hands full with protestors, you gotta bogart my play too?!"

Thundergirl made her reply and sealed it with a blast of ice breath, effectively sealing -him- in the shop. Probably to keep him in place so she could arrest him later.

"!@#$," he mumbled. He paced around in a small circle, hand reached up and scratching at the armored helmet, thinking of a way out. He shrugged and fired a gob of webbing form the spinnerets in his left forearm, coating the safe in the toxic silk. "Yo! Shop keep! You got a back door around here somewhere?"

The shop owner was still dazed, most likely due to whatever chemical Orbweaver had laced the web blast with. Through a muffled snicker, the shop keeper pointed toward the back of the jewelry shop. Orbweaver followed the man's gesture and saw a stairwell leading up.

"Ohhhh, that's why I thought you weren't here. You were upstairs," he replied with astonishment. "You actually live in this joint! Say... you got any hot daughters up there?"

A muffled response.

"Too bad. Guess I'll just thief and run then." He stepped back to the safe, which was smoldering from the webs that coated it. Pulling through the silk, the metal beneath it was like puddy. He reached in and pulled a large, baseball sized gem from inside it, clearing off the webbing that clung to it. Dumping the gem into a felt sack, Orbweaver turned, entered the hallway and began to make his way upstairs.
