Welcome to Psycho Pass

Two Sentinels of Magic paced back and forth inside of secret detention center in Gotham City, looking into a two way mirror. The women, wearing long, black robes with golden belts frowned at one another as they looked into the one way mirror at the young Asian girl who sat calmly at a table, hands intertwined. Two crystals hummed in each corner of the room, expelling a green energy outwards which bathed it. The girl herself had Asian features, and pale skin with emerald green eyes and was wearing strange, black leather looking body armor and a black cloak.

“What should we do with her? Technically she has done nothing wrong… But at the same time…” One of the women looked into the room, and the girl smiled a wicked smile at her from beneath the black charcoal colored cloak she wore.

“Are you positive the crystals are working?” The same Sentinel said as she shivered.

“Well, we’re not killing each other yet, right?” The other said and opened a file folder. It had several pictures in it as well as several documents.

Her name, all we’ve gotten is “Psycho Crush” not sure what the hell it means to be honest… She looks around 19 or 20 and is Asian” She flipped a few pages now, showing pictures of bloody scenes on the lawless Island of Mandripoor.

“Here, she killed 63 armed militia men in a fortress. We know because of her calling card left behind. PC carved in a wall.” She said, then turned to a small disk, which displayed a hologram video. It showed her jumping down from a 8 story building and with a yank of her hand, removing a rifle from a man’s hand then with another thrust of her hand the man began to gurgle as he slowly rose into the air. With one snap of her fingers, the man’s neck broke and his body fell to the ground. Then a glowing, red energy like sword appeared in her hand which she used to slash the camera man in half.

“We can’t charge her though… that island… there are no laws.” The other said. “So what do we do?”

The door opened and another Sentinel entered and the other two bowed. “Chancellor!” both said.

“What do we do? We let her go… She has committed no crimes here, and she is not magic despite what it may seem.” She said to the two of them.
As if reading their minds the girl inside the solitary room stood up and walked to the door, with a flick of her wrist it opened and she walked out.

“Wait.. you were not nullified the entire time? Then why stay?” One of the women asked.

Psycho Crush smirked, raising her hand and summoning her plasma sword to her hand, putting it at her side. “Because I was curious as to what you were going to do.” She said, smiling widely then walked out the room and out of the sentinel base.

She has now arrived.

Re: Welcome to Psycho Pass

It was just another day for Granite Quarry. He was bored and wondered the city looking for something to do. He had trained at the JT Tower earlier, he had cleaned up the mess afterward and made a call to have the billiard table in the tower replaced yet again. Granite wondered why the nice power lady kept putting the table in the same spot when she knew that it would just end up in pieces again whenever he came to the tower. It was never intentional; his large bulky size just did not fit well inside the tower. Things happened.

Granite shrugged thinking about it before letting the thought leave his mind as quickly as it had come. As he wandered he helped rescue a kitten from a tree for a little girl by pulling the tree down to the ground. After the girl took her pet he let go of the tree and it sprung violently to the opposite side. The tip of the tree whipped a purse snatcher that was running from the police sending him flying into a wall. The police were on him before he could get up and they tipped their hats to Granite who smiled a dopey grin before moving on.

He stopped at a hotdog stand and ordered several hot dogs smothered in relish, mustard and sauerkraut. The large rock shoved the food into his mouth making a complete mess of himself. Mixed condiments ran down his rock chin and dripped down to his chest. Granite paid no mind to the mess and simply enjoyed his snack. Passersby giggled and pointed but this was nothing new to Granite. Still bored he continued to wander aimlessly.

“Where all da baddies?” He asked himself scratching his head. The sound of stone grinding on stone came from his finger as it scratched. “Day mus’ all be on vacation er sumtin’. Vacation.” He said thinking back to his stint on the moon. Granite enjoyed his time there playing moon golf and moon baseball. He even enjoyed fighting the alien creature that attacked him. To him that was a good fight. Realizing he was not on the moon, on vacation, but rather bored and wandering the city, the big rock man frowned.

Suddenly he heard sirens racing toward him. Granite got excited thinking there might be some action after all but he was disappointed to see it was just a cop pulling over a speeder. “Man.” He grumbled kicking his large foot at a rock on the ground. The rock was sent up and out of the atmosphere even though he had barely hit it. Sometimes Granite did not remember his own strength. He would have blushed if his rock skin allowed it after he looked around to make sure no one saw. No one had seen him kick the rock into outer space and Granite was relieved. Still he was bored and looking for something to do. He tapped his JT comm and called the JT’s AI to see if anything was going on.

“Hey nice JT Ghost tingy. Anythin’ goin’ on in da city today?” He asked the AI. It took several moments for the AI to get back to him but it finally did.

“No. You are off duty, boulder brains.” The AI came back with. Granite frowned again and slumped his shoulders. He walked to a bench and sat down crushing the bench in the process. His large rock ass hit the concrete sidewalk, cracking it with the impact. The bench beneath him was smashed to splinters. Granite placed his chin in his hands and grumbled, “Son of a…”

Re: Welcome to Psycho Pass

The sentinel base and detention center that Psycho Crush stepped out of was in Gotham City. It was the same base that Jeremiah Cain had in mind to visit. The Chancellor of the Sentinels of Magic was a busy person, with many facilities Stateside to visit, many international embassies across the world and many matters for her to weigh in on. For that reason, it had been a couple years since Jeremiah had the pleasure of a rendezvous so when word fell upon waiting ear that she would be in Gotham, he created an excuse to be there.

Alas, their meeting would not come to pass. Upon leaving the door of the House of Mystery and arriving in Gotham, Jeremiah's journey to the Sentinel's base was rudely interrupted by the untimely arrival of a would-be jewel heist by a young man covered in -or comprised- of bees. A localized cyclone remedied the intrusion but police blamed it on something called neobytes; rumored to have been concocted by the Burnley Criminal Syndicate known as the Hoods.

Jeremiah was standing on the sidewalk in front of the jewelry store's glass storefront, texting a brief synopsis of the event to the Justice Tribunals artificial intelligence maiden extraordinaire, ZX-Y. He made sure to add flirtatious flourish to the message so as to stay on the A.I.'s pleasant side. But neobytes may be something they were interested in. That bit over, Jeremiah cleared his throat, straightened his crimson colored bow tie and scanned the street for anything unusual before continuing.

Re: Welcome to Psycho Pass

The young girl casually walked through the streets of Gotham seemingly carelessly, but as she walked people would “naturally” seem to walk around or avoid her. It was a subconscious suggestion to avoid her but also, amazingly, not notice her.

“Stupid Sentinels..” She said her heavy Chinese accent evident to any listening. “Wasting my time with them when I could have been establishing myself…” she would continue walking through the streets when she would head a huge CRASH. A bench giving way to a giant... stone creature which seemed down and out.

She raised an eyebrow and walked towards the creature.

“You shouldn’t feel so down.” She said with a smile. “You just need to pick better places to sit is all. Like that giant boulder over there.” She pointed to a giant rock in the park. “I’m sure that could easily support your weight.” She then smiled and would casually stroll back towards the park.

At this moment, a group of… unsavory men and women, around 12 of them, would be sitting around harassing people when they saw the seemingly lone woman walking down a darkened street towards an alley way. He, and Jeremiah would see the woman heading into an alleyway and the group of unsavory types following with bad intentions in the air. Some of them even had guns….

Granite smiled at the nice young girl’s kind words. “Tank you nice young lady.” He said in a deep cavernous voice. Granite rose up off the pile of rubble and stood his full height. He continued to smile a dopey grin as the girl made her way toward the park. Granite started to make his way to the large boulder she had pointed out which happened to be in the same direction she was heading. The large rock golem was completely oblivious to the group of armed men harassing people in the park. Instead he was following the young woman like a lost puppy.

Most people were not so nice to Granite and found him to be obtrusive. This girl was very nice to him and she didn’t even know him. That made him smile, especially after the issues he has had recently. He had left the JT tower not long ago and traveled through the ground to Gotham to get a change of scenery. That was before he crushed the bench of course. He also really wanted to meet Batman. Granite was a fan.

Still oblivious to the possible danger they approached, Granite followed the girl from a little way back. Though Granite was not the brightest of people, he was amazingly strong. He could easily go toe to toe with Power Girl and even keep up with the Man of Steel himself. What he lacked in brains he surely made up for in brawn. Still his brawn was used sparingly. Granite always worried about hurting someone seriously and often pulled his punches significantly. That is until it was time not too.

For the moment he was all smiles as he followed along behind her. Granite believed he had made a new friend and as always he only saw the good in them. Granite always believed that everyone had good in them and this girl should be no different. Everyone is good until they are not and that is the way he always saw it. Granite had a pure but simple heart and his mind was not much different.

She knew she was being followed; of course, it was no surprise to her that a group of individuals would see a young, seemingly vulnerable “girl” and see her as an easy score, amongst other things. So when they all entered the alleyway, she would keep walking slowly, until one of the men called out to her.

“Hey baby, where you goin so fast?!” he said amongst laughter from the crew. “Why don’t you come and play with us hmm?” He said as another began to hit a pipe against a trashcan.

She paused now, keeping her back to the men and women.

“Hmm.. I believe what you are suggesting is something I have no interest in… but tell me, are you some kind of… gang?” She asked.

“OOOH AN ASIAN!” one of the women said. “Me love you long time baby!” To which she got several laughs from the group of 12. “Do you understand what he’s sayin? Come play with us and MAYBE, we will let you leave…”

With that, the boss would walk towards her and put his hand on her shoulder. She exhaled and spoke softly.

“So… What are laws in America about Self defense?” The man looked a bit incensed and surprised as asked, then screamed loudly as his hand was broken and twisted into several pieces. “You !@#$!” he shouted and stepped back.

“You planned to rape and torture me.. I saw it in your mind.” She said, back still turned. “It amazes me that even in this city, roving gangs of fools still try to rob random people…”

Even as the gang prepared to assault her, four men stood at the entry. When they saw The golem looking man approaching they frowned, showing their guns. “Hey stone face, keep it walkin. Or get beat down.” They said.

Even if Jerimah approached they'd do the same, showing off the guns they had.

Re: Welcome to Psycho Pass

"What to do." Jeremiah mused. Any thoughts toward meeting the Chancellor were now dashed and it was becoming night if the darkening of streets were any indication. "Perhaps a visit to Academia Magica... I've been meaning to," he stopped his monologue as he took noticed of a lone woman entering a street and then alley with too many obstructions and places of concealment. Never a good idea in Gotham City unless you were prepared. He slid the mobile phone into his suit pants pocket and nonchalantly approached, peering over the top of a bent metal chain fence as the scene unfolded.

While easily a dozen males trailed the woman, their pace set to easily overtake her, there was another being making his way up the street toward the entrance of the alley. This one was much more menacing in appearance but as Jeremiah knew, appearances could be deceiving. He turned the corner into the alley, now several tens of feet behind Granite, who was himself not far from what had to be the sounds of a scuffle.

Four men gave an indication of what they meant to do here today, pulling back jackets or lifting up shirt bottoms to show their weaponry. One spotted Jeremiah as he turned the corner but so far Granite was clearly in between the four 'guards' and the man in the gray and crimson colored suit.

For the moment, Granite was the 'x-factor'... Jeremiah would gauge this man's reaction and that would tell him all he needed to know about what the odds were in this situation.

Re: Welcome to Psycho Pass

Granite approached the men with guns without hesitation. The rock man was nearly fearless, though one might wonder if it was because of what he was or because he was just not smart enough to be afraid. Either way he walked up to the men and peered down at them.

“It ain’t nice ta threaten people wit guns and violence.” Granite said to the armed men before pushing past them and following the second group of would be attackers. He paid no attention to the confused looks on the faces of the thugs he had walked through. When they all came out of their haze of shock they started throwing fits about how they were dissed by a rock and that is when the disparaging remarks started to fly. Some had pulled their hardware from their pants as they cursed and yelled at Granite.

It was enough for him to stop. He lowered his head and shook it. “Day neva learn.” He said to himself before turning back to the men. He did not notice Jeremiah behind the men and the thugs were certainly only paying attention to the rock man. Some of the thugs spit on Granite while others started to throw trash at him. They made all sorts of comments about him being a stupid rock and that he was no hero. The words did not hurt the golem but it was their lack of respect for another being that got to him.

“Dat is enougha’ dat.” The golem said. “You are not da nice people.” He continued. The men were too busy laughing at him to realize what Granite planned to do next. Using his large arms, he scooped up nearly all of the men in one swoop. He dumped them into an old meatal dumpster. He closed the lid before tearing the ladder from the fire escape and bending it around the dumpster to hold it closed. Afterward he turned to the remaining few men.

“Now den, ready to say sowwy now?” He asked the men.

There were a lot of people screaming as the golem picked them up and unceremoniously dumped them into the trash barrel, sealing it with a ladder. The muffled screams continued as they kicked at the walls. The four men at the beginning of the alleyway drew their weapons, and three of them marched into the alleyway and began to fire their guns at Granite.

“You stone !@#$ you goin down!” they said.

The other eyed Jerimah, gun drawn, cocky smirk on his face. “Don’t even think bout it gramps. Keep it movin or end up on the news.” The gang member said. It was clear he wasn’t playing around.

Meanwhile, as the gunfire went on Kellis didn’t seem bothered by the gunfire. She didn’t attempt to hide or even dodge, she simply stood there as if she knew Granite was going to deflect the gunfire with her body. But in the air there was a soft, slight “hum” from the building, immense psionic powers which were bubbling right underneath her skin. Her eyes stopped glowing as she spoke.

“Shi Ren, thanks for the protection. It seems people in this country have no real respect…” she said amidst the gunfire. “And Shi Ren means Stone Man in Mandarin. I think it is fitting.” She smiled thinly. “And why are you following me?”

Jeremiah meanwhile most likely, with his vast knowledge of the occult and the non normal, would probably be able to pick up she was a psionist. A being with psionic powers.

"Oh well we wouldn't that," Jeremiah replied. he raised his hands in mock surrender but as his hands went high, a small glass vial rolled off his palm and wrist and struck the ground. The vial broke open and the small collection of blood within splashed across the cement. Jeremiah looked down on at it and then back at the street thug that threatened him. Pools of similar colored energy appeared beneath not only that gunman but the others opposing Granite as well. Tendrils of blood red energy appeared from within the pools beneath their feet, wrapping around the attacker's legs and lower torso, not causing any direct pain but sure to ruin their aim or cause them to drop their firearms.

The mage looked up and over to the young woman to see how she fared. She dispatched her attackers with a sort of ease but there was no distinct sense of magic in the air that was not Jeremiah's own. While he couldn't clearly tell that she was a psionicist, the fact she was a meta was practically unmistakable.
