Commander Nebula

Real Name: Lermin
Height: Normally 6'1", variable
Weight: Normally 210 lbs, variable
Hair: None; prehensile head tendrils
Eyes: Red
Powers: Quantum, Dual Pistols
Travel: Flight

Abilities
Commander Nebula possesses a host of abilities essential for any dashing adventurer. Nerves of steel, deadly charisma, an upbeat-yet-slightly-snarky sense of humor, and impeccable manners.

He also has the innate ability to create and control quantum energy, allowing him to affect forces such as gravity and time itself. This allows the Commander to do such things as slow time to give himself an advantage in combat, accelerate time to quicken things like healing wounds, or even create mini-wormholes which let him travel vast distances quickly.

Nebula uses a top-of-the-line Red Dwarf jet pack with deep-space capabilities. The jet pack has a self-charging power supply, allowing it to recharge itself using nothing more than ambient energy fields.

Commander Nebula's main weapons are a pair of experimental Multi-Guns. With self-charging capabilities similar to the Red Dwarf, the Multi-Guns can switch between different firing modes. Stun pulses for incapacitating, laser beams, blaster bolts, disintegrating rays, and the deadly Alpha beam. Not much can stand up to the Alpha beam, though the energy required limits prolonged use.

Personality
Commander Nebula is interested in adventure first, heroism second, and logic and pragmatism last. He describes himself as a classic, space-faring adventurer and lives his life accordingly.

He is a friendly, amiable sort that is always up for socializing. In combat he's quick-witted and cool-headed. As a heroic adventurer he, of course, tries to refrain from killing as much as possible, but also knows that sometimes it just can't be helped.

History
The Commander belongs to a race of aliens called Mezonians. An ancient race from the planet Mez, the Mezonians have, until recently, been involved in a millennia long civil war. The race used its advanced technology and quantum abilities to isolate itself for the rest of the universe as the two sides fought bitterly.

When one side finally emerged victorious, the Mezonians turned their attention outward, but still chose to remain fairly separate. Light trading and exploration being the extent of their ambition.

A former Mezonian soldier named Lermin was stationed on a research satellite, monitoring deep space signals. It wasn't a terribly exciting job, but Lermin amused himself with some of the transmissions he'd pick up. Entertainment focused radio programs, music broadcasts, and video transmissions, while not helpful scientifically, provided a welcome distraction.

It was one of the video signals that finally inspired a lifestyle change. Lermin became fascinated with old sci-fi serials and movies from a distant planet called Earth.

Disillusioned from his time as a soldier and feeling cynical about what being a "hero" seemed to mean in the "real world", Lermin became obsessed with the retro-style protagonists in the shows. He decided that the universe needed more of those kind of heroes, and set about becoming just that.

Using his savings, he purchased a high-end Red Dwarf jet pack and used his military connections to get ahold of a couple experimental Multi-Guns. Calling himself Commander Nebula, he set off into space to show the universe just what a true heroic adventurer can do.

Re: Commander Nebula

The name takes me back to the old Buzz Lightyear cartoons. Ah, those were the good old days!
