It's a creative twist. But why retcon (even slightly) for one character and not others? Besides, like the writer of the article said, it kind of makes it not make sense why she was taking so long to recover.
Then again, it could be an excuse to make her recover faster. The point is Fugue is making her believe something that isn't true. So... It did happen but she doesn't think so.
That's my... Lots of cents.
