Just how Strong is Superman?

So the DCUO strength chart lists Superman's strength at around 400k tons of pure lifting power.

But this version of Superman, in this clip is lifting 200 quintillion tons! Is the chart outdated? because clearly he can lift more than 400k tons.

And then in this scene, he takes the blast of like 15 suns point blank! this is the animated Superman mind you, so i have to think he's far stronger than people give him credit for.

Re: Just how Strong is Superman?

I will tell you this. In Role Play, we put limits on Kryptonians more to make them playable, then to put "limits" on them. Anytime a hero pushes past their written limits, it is a feat, not the norm. Superman does not push his powers that often. Even in comics, he rarely has to be that strong.

I have always said, "He is as strong as he needs to be for the story." That means that if you need him to knock down a vault door, he will. If you need him to push the moon out of orbit to save Earth, he will. But that is not his normal level of power.

Supergirl can only lift 6k tons in that guide. Yes, I know she has lifted more, but it is not normal. It was a feat of power. She also has taken a nuclear warhead to the face, and been fine. At the same time, she was thrown threw a wall and almost died. See? It is all up to the writer.

Power Girl has also shown the same level of power flux. In one comic, she was knocked out by Ultra Humanite. In another she took a blast that leveled a city. In one early comic she was knocked out by running into a wall, at super speed. She was also knocked out by having two people's heads knocked into hers. So as you see, it is all up to the writer. We are the writers in the game.

Also, JLU and TAS are not canon to what we all play. We decided, and I mean the majority of the RPers here, that we would use the DCURPG as a guide. It is only a guide though and it is mainly to keep things fair in RP.

I hope I answered your question, though I am sure I made it more confusing somehow. Hehe.

The first clip is from All Star Superman. It is the "quintessential" Superman, whose power is based off of the Golden Age stories. He was overpowered by the sun and his powers expanded exponentially.

The second clip is from Superman vs. The Elite. The battle shows that Superman, through not only his physical strength, but also his intellect can achieve most any victory. The story that it is based of is out of Action Comics #775. It's also very possible that the villain was just talking smack. The force of 15 suns exploding would have destroyed the Earth from that distance.

Fun facts however, Animations do not count towards canon and as Bacon said the basis for the Animation is not the Age of comics our RP universe is set in but the Golden and Silver age legacy of Superman.
