Keeping Up with the Queens

Victoria hadn't been working for Oliver Queen long. A few months, maybe. But the position requirements did seem odd, what with the martial arts experience and firearm training a necessity. What made her wonder what kind of trouble Oliver Queen got into on a daily basis was the need for special weapons and technology training that was written in fine print.

No wonder Victoria was such a good fit for the job, but only a few weeks in, her employer had already gotten himself quite hurt by a masked murderer who seemed hell bent in killing Mr. Queen.

Victoria had spent days taking care of the recovering, and very relunctantly bed ridden Mr. Queen. Today, she had the cooks make his favorite breakfast, which she took up to him.

Within his hand was Canary ' mask. Tightly gripping the effect. He at first nearly missed his trusted assistants arrival. His recovery required pain killing medication. That of which he REFUSED. Opium on the island he had been administered caused him to take on an addictive desire. Addictive nature ran wild in his bloodline. So refusing medication at that capacity, made him brunt the pain nakedly without aid.

'' morning beautiful..." He grunted, trying poorly to hide the pain. Shifting about.

Re: Keeping Up with the Queens

Victoria smiled as she entered. "Good Morning, Mr. Queen." She said and walked into the bedroom, putting the breakfast on the bed side table. "And how are we feeling this morning?" She asked, politely, though it was clear as a summer's day that he was not in a good way.

Not knowing much more about medicine then how to dress wounds in the heat of battle, Victoria couldn't help her employer much with the pain, so she thought she would try to keep his mind off of his leg and on to other matters.

"I also brought you a copy of the morning news. They said that there is a task force being dedicated to catching the man who attacked you and... oh... what was her name... the one in the fishnets." She said, with a wave of her hand.

Re: Keeping Up with the Queens

((Joining, if its okay with you two. ))

So many dead, so many hurt, and so many families left to pick up the pieces. That is all Dinah Lance could think of, as she walked to her new home in Gotham. She was still in her Black Canary costume, save for her mask. A mask always meant you had something to hide. Whether it were for hiding from the law or protecting those you loved, there was always a reason. But that night; the night she Victoria kiss him, with her words alone. That was the moment she realized there were no more reasons to hide her face.

She was the Black Canary, and she knew that was all she was. When she lived in Star City, she tried to hide her life as Dinah Lance, behind a mask. She tried to make everyone wonder who Black Canary was. But that was all taken from her; taken by Shiva. She was the reason she was only Black Canary for so long. She was the reason she gave up on a separate life.

But Gotham was supposed to be different, supposed to be her new chance. She limped into her small florist shop, and then she kicked the first plant out of its pot. She then started throwing plants into the wall, started destroying her new life in Gotham. "What is the point!" She yelled out in a rage and was about to smash another plant, when she saw a small one. She stopped and then picked it up.
"What am I doing?" She remembered when she opened the little shop in Seattle, when she was with Sin and when she made Ollie happy. The plant was their first plant they planted... together. "Why Ollie? What did I do that was so wrong? What did you do that made me run?" She remembered calling the little plant, "No hope." Cause it should have died. It survived a fire, lack of water, and even a harsh winter... in the backyard, where she threw it. She later renamed it, "Lazarus."

But what did that mean now? She held the little plant that would not die and placed it back on a shelf. "Is this why?" She looked at a mirror and saw her face, though it should have been older, it was only the face of a twenty year old. She touched her face and then she ran her hands down her body. Her perfect breasts were high and firm. Her abs were well toned and smooth. Her thighs had no sign of age on them. She was perfect. But was perfect why he shied from her? Did the Lazarus Pit change her in ways that only he saw?

"I need to talk to him. I need to ask him... why." Dinah walked up her steps and made it to her small studio apartment. She pulled off her gloves and tossed them on the couch. She had no television, but she did have an old record player. She turned on a classic song, and she sat on the bed. She then slid her boots off, one by one. Dinah lay back in her bed and sighed softly. She was a little sore from being tied to the chair, but it was nothing that bad. She still wondered who that man was. Why did he want Ollie so badly? He could have killed her, but he didn't... why?

Dinah finally slid her leotards down and pulled them down her form. She was braless, since it was hard to wear one with her style of clothes. She didn't need the support, since it was built in with her leotards. Now she sat in only her torn fishnets. She sighed, as the song skipped, as old records sometimes did. She sat up and stomped on the ground, and the music continued. "I guess he is happy with her." She remembered how Victoria told her to leave him alone. How she practically begged her to let him go. So she did that... she left her mask with Ollie. It was the symbol of Black Canary. It was the symbol of what she was. Now she was Dinah. Now she was Canary. Now she was... who was she? She finally slid her torn fishnets down and was naked. Her smooth form had a few bruises that she knew would be gone by morning. What was she? She stood up, naked, and padded to the mirror. "What happened to you, Dinah?" She saw her blue eyes, staring back at her. She had been through more than anyone should. They had been through more than anyone ever would. She and Ollie were the perfect couple, when they were apart.

Dinah turned away from the mirror and then went back to her bed. The music was still playing, and she let it play. The music was calming and careful. It hit all the highs and lows, in the most beautiful tune that could be heard. The symphony continued into the encore, but Dinah Lance heard none of it. She was sound asleep in her bed.

Re: Keeping Up with the Queens

He thanked her kindly. (Victoria)
"You know damn well she's my wife. Well..is..was...it's complicated. But no need to dwell. " He brought the mask with him. The mask Canary left with him.

His feelings and love had been compromised many times over, as per the saga of he and Dinah. From the onset of checking her out. And her trading sarcastic flirtation, mocking his 'admiration of her mother'. He wore more of the theatrics then. False beard and Eros Flynn tolling hat. Tights even. The same tights she noticed his assets and mentioned. He smiled the same, lamenting that day. That was before the ring...before the many arguments...before the lazarus....Enough of that.

He peered at Victoria. He felt drawn to the woman. As if heckled by the Gods. His heart pulled. Was it boyish fop ping over a pretty woman? Or was it her independent approach and sex appeal? Surrey all 9 those. But absence made the heart grow fonder, but also cold.
"Vicki...you know I appreciate you...right?"

Re: Keeping Up with the Queens

Victoria sighed when he got defensive of Black Canary. Of course she knew who Black Canary was. It was in the file she was given before she took this mission.

Black Canary and Green Arrow were one of the cutest damn couples anyone had ever seen. But strong feelings brought stronger passions. The love between the two was doomed from the start. That part wasn't in their files, but Victoria knew.

Victoria was a good agent, and knew that, in order to complete her mission, in order to protect Oliver Queen, she had to keep Black Canary away from him. Two heroes in love would do anything to save the other. Especially putting their own life on the line for the other, which made absolutely no sense to Victoria. She would make sure this didn't happen again.

Looking back at Ollie, she smiled when he said that he appreciated her. "I would think that the money in my bank account each pay day showed your appreciation, but thank you, Mr. Queen."

Oliver was a nice guy, she thought to herself. It's too bad she couldn't tell him who she was, or why she took the job offer to be his assistant. She had a mission to complete, and it wouldn't be compromised by breaking her covert operations.

Re: Keeping Up with the Queens

Just as she predicted, when Dinah woke up, she felt fine. She pulled the covers away to see her naked form. There were no bruises, cuts, scrapes or even scars. She was fully healed, thanks to the Lazarus Pit. It was both a blessing and curse, and sometimes she wondered which. She remembered sharing her scar stories with Ollie before. How they both complained about the times they were hurt, about the times they almost died. But they always had the story of how they got away. That was something she had no longer. The marks that made her more than a freak, were gone.

Dinah stood up and pulled on some track pants and a sports bra. She then walked to her coffee pot and started a fresh brew. Once it was started, she went down to her dojo. It was nothing big, just a place to practice and to teach. She looked at the flyer she made and sighed. "Free lessons on Saturdays for Women." She wanted to help the women of her neighborhood learn to defend themselves. She wanted to make a difference, not as Black Canary, but as someone that made this her new home. Someone that wanted to fit in... to belong.

She bowed her the picture of Ted, her master. One of many, but the one that gave her the most. She then got on the mat and stretched. She thought about the times she had wrestled with Ollie and how she let him win, sometimes. But more the time he beat her. She had always thought that one day she would be beaten by him, but at the same time, knew he would always let her win. But that one time he beat her and it made her smile.

She stood up and did some kata. Her style was her own, though she took from the many styles she knew, she had her own. Her style would be called, Canary. She giggled at the thought of someone teaching her style, one day. Would she be remembered as a master of the arts? Would she be remembered for being the Black Canary? Would she be remembered for breaking the heart of Oliver Queen? Would she be remembered?

She continued her workout, until she was sweat drenched and aching. It was a good way to start the morning. "Oh Ollie... what are we doing?" Dinah walked to the locker room and turned on the shower. It was the only shower she had, since her little apartment didn't have one.

Stripping out of her workout clothes, she stood under the water and thought about Ollie. She thought about his arms around her. Thought about how he was so strong and so handsome. He was quite the catch and she had him... had... had. She sobbed softly, under the water, though the tears were drown out by the water. It was how she cried. She didn't want anyone to see her cry, not even herself. When her shower was finally over, she dried off and got dressed.

Now she could have her coffee. Now she could open the store. She went out front and saw that the store was cleaned up. Amber was there already. Amber looked at the young woman and smiled. "Good morning, Dinah. I take it you had a rough night?"

Dinah blushed, "Yeah, you might say that. Um... sorry about the mess." She looked and saw her little plant, "Lazarus," was sitting atop a shelf with sun lamps overlooking it. It looked more alive today then last night. "I should have cleaned it up. I just had a lot of things on my mind and... well yeah. So I take it that we are open?"

Amber was a plump woman in her thirties. She was wearing a red and white sundress with lots of flowers and sandals. She looked like she belonged in this shop more than Dinah. She always smiled and as she brushed back her blonde locks of hair, she replied. "I let you sleep in, Dinah. It is past noon you know. We have been opened for hours. Let me guess, your clock stopped working again?"

She had never even looked at the clock. She really felt embarrassed now. "Let me at least water the plants?"

"No need, I got this. You should go and clear your head. Maybe see the city more? There is a lot here in Gotham that you never see at night. Why don't you got take a day for yourself? I will handle things here." Amber walked up to Dinah and kissed her on the forehead. "Go. I will take care of things today."

Dinah smiled and then grabbed her keys. She headed out the door and saw the light of the city. It was cloudy, but alive. The sun tried to burn through the clouds, but was denied. That was Gotham.

She got to her car and she opened the door. She decided to let the top come down even. So what if it was cloudy. Heck, if this was the only time she could drive with it down, so be it. She started the car and it failed to start, until the third time. "Maybe I should have Ollie look-" She paused at her words, and knew that he would not be looking at it. "I am sure I can fix it myself." She drove down the streets, determined to have a good day.

Re: Keeping Up with the Queens

''My appreciation transcends the Queen pocket book dear. You are a firecracker. I like that!" He flirted. Though at times, he could tell the woman held zero susceptibility to that notorious charm he had.

He admired her from afar. Still holding Dinah ' vigilante mask in his hand. He felt guilty just then.

"Damn you Oliver Jonas Queen" He thought, scolding himself. The ache in his leg required medication. But painkillers were not something he was open to. The fact he utilized his threshold of endurance so silently, was a trait of uncanny proportion. Something he never could relay to Roy...

"Queen ya big baby." Said a boisterous man entering the room. Tall and handsome. His brown hair parted to the side. Though fashionably kept.

"Raymond Palmer!" Ollie replied, welcoming his guest. Ray had already diverted all his attention on Victoria.
"You poor thing...you Know this guy?" He asked jest fully to Oliver's 'assistant.

But Oliver smiled on, entertained by the presence of his old time friend.

Ray Palmer walked over to Victoria. Smiling and offering a handshake. He was attractive, and his smile seemed warm. Though the zeal in his eye lead on a good sort of adventure. Rather than creepy.

-----------------------------------------------
As Canary drove through Gotham. She may notice a horrendous scene taking place in a Chinatown alleyway. The building titled 'Po's East meets West Emporium'. A woman standing her ground versus three males wearing dark street clothing. Each man taking turns and swinging wildly at her.

Victoria set the food down on his bedside table, a smile on her face. "I brought eggs, toast, pancakes and some fruit. The cook claims that you like it. Hope he wasn't lieing." She said, brushing off his flirtatious advances.

She was about to say something about the news story when a man enentered the room in a rather loud fashion. A small knife slipped, instinctively into her hand, unseen by the untrained eye. When Oliver showed that he did know the intruder, the knife quickly hid back into her sleeve with no more then her balling up her fist.

"It's nice to meet you, Mr. Palmer." She said and shook his hand. "Any friend of Ollie's is clearly not right in the head. And that's fine by me." She said in an equally joking mannet.

Re: Keeping Up with the Queens

"Touche..." Palmer held her hand with both of his and bowed theatrically.
Then turned to Queen.

"Cross and Holt are on their way...to talk those...matters.." Ray paused hesitantly, looking to Victoria and then back to Oliver. Oliver responded, by smiling and putting his hand up to ensure Victoria was demoed 'Safe'. Ray still reluctant to openly speak of his alter super heroic ego nor of Mister Terrific (Holt), and Midnite (Cross).
"Their expertise transcends the microscopic perameter that I can!" Palmer said coyly, poking at Oliver's insisting the other two get involved. Being Palmer was in fact the Atom. Queen knew his rambunctious adventure streak could potentially hold up healing. If he tinker too much.

"Raymond. You still sore I called the others in?" Oliver point blank asked him.

Ray simply blushed.
"Nah man....you sound Like Carter now! Which reminds me...I'm surprised you didn't call old Hawk nose in here too!?" Ray countered.
"Not this time. He was busy." Ollie chimed. His jovial expression would be noticeable to Victoria. Especially when he looked to her still smiling. Maybe holding the smile a bit extra for her? It could also be noticed he hid Canary mask beneath his bedcovers.
