On a scale from 1-10, how invested in DC Universe Online are you?:  6

On a scale from 1-10, how much do you enjoy DC Universe Online?:  8

League Questionnaire

The following questions are used to determine your interest in our League.

1. Why are you interested in becoming a part of The Hoods, and what do you feel The Hoods stand for?

I am an experienced RP'er and enjoy becoming part of story-lines and interacting with other characters. Watching as characters can grow and become something new in their interactions, perhaps either reaffirming who they are or going in new directions is one of the most exciting things you can do in an MMO. I am interested in the Hoods especially since they are a dedicated Villains league that is not interested in being a “homage league”, but in creating new characters within the existing DC Universe. You also have a good application process which means I know I will be roleplaying with others who are fairly serious about the concept, and it also says a lot about the League's dedication to roleplaying.

2. How will you personally contribute to the betterment of our organization?

I am interested in actively participating in ongoing storylines, helping to create new stories and interacting with other characters to make the casual every-day roleplaying a more exciting and lively experience. I am an experienced writer with plenty of training in both the creative process and technical aspects.

3. Did you read our "About Us" and "Home Base" Information Pages? (If not, please do so.)

Yes.

Character Questionnaire

The following questions will give us a better understanding of how you view your character and help us to determine if he/she will be a good addition to our team.

1. In your opinion, what makes your character Original and Iconic, what makes them stand out amongst his/her fellow villains?

Snipes is an assassin/mercenary-for-hire that is literally a guy who was forced into early-retirement from the military, almost never takes off his armor, collects insects, feeds pigeons, reads the newspaper every morning while drinking his black coffee, and spends his evenings cleaning his base while wearing yellow gloves.

A few other notable things that set him apart; he once refused to fulfill a contract on a concert conductor until after Snipes had seen the performance; his niece still lives in the small town in Indiana where he grew up—he has her send the family newsletter to a P.O. Box a state away from Gotham that is under a fake name, she is the only one in his family that knows he is still alive; he has been known to tidy up a victim's house while waiting for them to get back from work before killing them.

2. How dedicated are you to this character and his/her concept? Will he/she be your main character?

I am very dedicated to this character as he is my main. The concept is solid but he has room to grow which I think is important.

3. Why did your character decide to become a villain?

James Multro was forced into early-retirement from the military after he took a stray bullet to the knee during a shooting range accident. Forced to walk with a cane he was unable to get a job in any police-department or private security company because of his physical disability. Repeatedly told that he was too old regardless and that he should enjoy retirement he grew bitter and resentful. Potentially a sociopath who lived for the thrill of completing a job, and unable to find a legal way to vent this need, he went into business for himself, but was soon outpaced by younger criminals. When the exobytes were released he had a second lease on life, stole what equipment he needed from experimental labs etc and went into the assassination/mercenary business.

Re: Snipes-A-Million

Character Bio

In 1000 words or less, please provide a concise bio about your character. This bio should include the origin of your character detailing how he acquired his/her abilities, his/her rise to fame in the villain community, and if applicable his/her introduction to The Hoods.

Note: Origins should contain little to no reference to any particular Superhero MMORPG established fiction (though exobyte-granted powers are obviously an exception). We are looking for 'your' ultimate version of your villain, not one that is tied directly to any existing game or comic-brand lore.

James Multro, born and raised in the unincorporated community of Meerkow, Indiana was born a sickly child, obsessive and never playing with his siblings. His grandfather taught him how to shoot a rifle hunting turkeys, and the basics of survival. It was so perfect, just exhale, slowly squeeze the trigger and in a flash of thunder and lightning he would snuff a life out of the world, painting the backdrop in crimson and brown.

An outcast growing up he barely made it through highschool, sticking with it only at the urging of his grandfather. After graduation he went straight to the recruiter's office and signed up with the Marines, packed his bags, and left the next day.

The years and decades passed quickly enough, he took to the training like a fish in water. And the once sickly child became fit young man, and then a seasoned veteran. A well trained member of the Scout-Snipers he eventually went into teaching incoming Marines at Quantico, while citing for commendation in the field he was soon being written up for his grueling attitude and reckless endangerment of students. Loathed by the students, and considered too extreme even by the Scout-Sniper standards, it is unknown if the eventual discharge of a grenade during field training that took his right leg was truly an accident as claimed by those in attendance.

Forced into early-retirement and forced to walk with a cane he was unable to get a job in any police-department or private security company. Repeatedly told that he was too old regardless and that he should enjoy retirement he grew bitter and resentful. Unable to vent his need for the hunt, for the job, he went into business for himself, but was soon outpaced by younger criminals.

When the exobytes were released he had a second lease on life. The first one he encountered crashed literally through his own window. He was strong again, stronger than ever before. Stronger than anyone he even knew. This changed everything.

The next step he took was to steal what equipment he needed from experimental labs, the military, hospitals, and the police and went into the assassination/mercenary business. You will never see him removing his mask now, and he has faked the death of James Multro, the only person in his family who knows he is still alive is his niece Cheryl, another person who was close to Snipes' grandfather and one of the few people he feels understands why he does what he does.

He sticks to the shadows, covering his actions as those of an insane maniac, not a killer-for-hire, and no one looks at the money trail because of it. After all, who would want to believe that, that hotel arson that killed five people was to cover the murder of just one of them? Or that someone offered to pay extra for pouring acid on anyone that protected a target?

At first he was spoken of only in rumor, the original police case files referred to him as the Indigo Skull because of the mark on his armor reported in the few sitings, and eventually he left a calling card. A single blood-written message, “Snipes-A-Million was here.” The attention he has been getting in the press has been growing, and it is only a matter of time before one of the major heroes makes a run at him. He needs to make allies, quickly, build up his resources. Good thing he heard about a league that might be recruiting...

Roleplaying Essay

As The Hoods are primarily a Roleplay-centric group, we would like to ensure that anyone who may eventually join the League are capable of some form of RPing. In 500 words or less, please use the following scenario to write a short paragraph or two. This section should feature your character in the role of a villain. Please write in third-person only.

At the heart of Gotham's East End, Weather Wiccan hovers triumphantly at the center of a freak storm of her creation, as your fellow villains lay unconscious at her feet. You are the only still-standing member of your crew. Your misbegotten loot is nearby, but a crowd has gathered cautiously in the streets, both terrified and excited by the melee. Without a second thought you spring into action. (Please continue the story from this moment on.)

Twisting his hips Snipes spins to the left out of the line of fire, bringing his rifle to bear on the crowd. A crooked smile passes, unseen, over his lips as he flips a small red switch halfway down the length of the barrel. A stream of liquid passes out of the tip and after a moment of contact with the air bursts into flames heading straight at a lady with blonde hair, her eyes widening. That is when the screaming starts.

Snipes wave the rifle back and forth, spraying fire across the crowd. The fires gleam reflects in the puddles from the storm, the embers and spatters of liquid flame spreading and dancing between the shrieking civilians.

“You—You monster!” Weather Wiccan shouts, dashing forward she throws a right hook cracking into the side of the assassin's helmet, knocking him back, the world spinning for a second as he rolls out of the fall, his fingers coming off the trigger, the flames stopping.

Shaking his head once, knocking the stars loose from his vision Snipes turns back to look at Wiccan standing where he stood, sending torrents of rain at the crowd, dousing the flames. The rain spattering back and soaking her clothes.

Slinging the rifle across his shoulder he reaches for his belt and pulls out a fun little toy he had brought just for this occasion. Pointing the Taser at Wiccan he pulls the trigger and the harsh crackle of electricity is barely audible over the screams. Wiccan straightens up, her limbs shaking back and forth before falling back stiff as a board.

He crawls up to his feet, his gaze sweeping across his allies, many of them moaning and cursing. Wiccan is lying down, silent and still. A few yards away, one of the Hoods, the blonde one with the pretty eyes, looks at Snipes, her eyebrows furrowed.

“Snipes,” she says, “That was really, really stupid.”

“It worked didn't it?” He says, shrugging and going over to Wiccan, beginning to go through her pockets. Nothing, just a laundry ticket for her suit at some Metropolis place that caters to capes.

“The ground is wet, you idiot,” The blonde continues. “You could have shocked us all.”

“No I couldn't have,” Snipes answers, giving Wiccan another quick pat down. “Tasers don't work that way. The dampness just helped the current reach her underneath that costume. Worst you would have felt would have been a slight tickle.” Looking back over his shoulder he see's some of the team struggling to get to their feet, wrinkling their noses at the smell of burned flesh. Silently, he walks over and helps one of them get up.

The blonde is now on her feet and glaring at the assassin, “You torched civvies for something that you hoped would work. What if you had been wrong?”

“I am never wrong.” He responds before jutting his helmet's chin over at Wiccan, “Grab the witch, let's take her with us. No sense in coming out empty handed in all of this.”

My apologies, just now spotted the third-person only requirement. Was just continuing the POV that the example was given in. I will do a quick edit. emoticon
