Re: The Hunting Ground (Current Series: 1-2)

Should have expected this...more insanity trickles down to the street-level crime lords every day. Especially after the last encoun--

"Oof!"

Frumentar leapt back as Grim Phalanx dove for him. A near thing--he had nearly dropped the gauss grenade and blinded himself in the process.

He braced himself. Frumentar secured the grenade in a compartment on his arm as he moved to counter Grim's assault.

But...this wasn't Grim's style. Too much control, too little power. Phalanx struck to kill, not to intimidate.

As he glanced the latest blow, Frumentar heard Grim's whisper. He saw the mercenary leader fire his own flashbangs at the monster of metal shielding the cartel commanders. As Grim landed, Frumentar began to maneuver to the other side of the enemy, hoping to flank him when the shield dropped.

The shielding did not protect from flash of light. The mob recieved a burst of light, which stunned all of them. The mech's shield went down as his reticle is blinded.

This gave an open opportunity to flank from all sides against the machine as well as Santos.

As though something clicked. The swordsman dove back to the metallic abomination in synchronized slashing blows. Aiming at vitals and visibly exposed 'sweet spots". Working in tandem with his usually rivaling nemesis. The two had a rhythm that came with experience. Bith sultra exquisite combatalists. (Is that even a word? No...well, fitting then for such execution.)

Moving to Santos abruptly allowed for surprise. Which, he (Grim) chose to do at the onset of Frumentars meticulous display of attacks on the beast.

Frumentar twisted to avoid any wild attacks from the cartel leaders, or their abomination of a mech.

"Firing!"

He flicked his wrist, firing the over-charged gauss grenade from his arm at the mech. He grabbed Grim and ducked for cover, hoping his own grounding process would shield both hero and villain from the discharge.

The grenade explodes, sending volts of electricity and stunning the mech. Santos was behind the mech, only inches away from receiving the same treatment.

The gauss grenade takes a toll on the mech, as weapons and other mecha-systems are offline. As the electrocution ends, the cartel leader in the mech was stuck inside, unable to get out unless pried open manually from the head. The cartel leaders stood in awe, lowering their hands from blocking their eyes after the gauss grenade.

Santos, glared at the duo, with a redden face.

"Fuckin'- Now what?" He sounded pretty pissed off.

"Ooof!...thanks slick.....we are getting too good at this eh?" Grim declared to Frumentar, though concentrated on the Cartel before them.
 **Readies his thirsty blades.
"You've got my attention, boyscout." He said to Frumentar." You tell me how you want to play this now...otherwise I'm cutting these mooks down." He paced some, like a caged lion. (( reminiscent of Darth Maul in star wars 1)) He offered the morally brighter of the pair to constitute their next action. More so as a parlay offering. They worked well together, and needed cooperation from the vigilante for them BOTH to survive this scene.
The sellsword was prone to unscrupulously selfish ends normally. However, to dismiss Frumentar's devout reasoning would be strategically irresponsible. Not to mention. Erik respected a proper foe. Especially one whom held honor. He wouldn't waste such an opponent at the hands of a subpar rival. (Unless it was by Grims doing.)
"Your call ....partner." he said it with a smile beneath his protective mask.

Frumentar felt a little dirty as he heard Grim Phalanx's praise. It was chilling to think that this man, who once tortured Frumentar to within an inch of his life, would so freely praise him as though they were old friends.

Perhaps he had followed Combatier too far...

*Bah,* he thought. *What's past is past. Focus on the now.*

Specifically, focus on the red-faced rat bastard of a criminal ring leader in front of him.

The Dark Knave slowly walked up to Santos.

*crack!*

A swift punch, aimed at his head. Frumentar was careful to make it a glancing blow. He grabbed Santos and attempted to choke him into unconsciousness.

"Your...money...can't buy...everything..."

"Hnnng!!" After taking the blow, he is immediately picked up and choked.

He was struggling to say something, but was knocked out after a few more additional seconds. The Cartel leaders wanted to help but was afraid of encountering the duo.

Sirens in the distance can be heard, even from this level.

One of the Cartel leaders took a step forward.

"One more Cartel leader wasn't here today... he's in Brazil." It was followed by a gulp before he looked down at the dead guard that was killed by Combatier.

Frumentar and Grim would know what Combatier's next motive.

Re: The Hunting Ground (Current Series: 1-2)

As Frumentar finished off what the two of them diminished. (not only the menace between them, But the morale as well) Erik saw to whirl his blades about, in cautionary threat amongst the conglomerate of leaders.

"On this day, mark it as "la muerta vino a llamar"! Death came knocking...."he announced, then cast a thrusting double slash cutting into the pillar as to display the deft and make of sword and skill. Sheathing the 'reaper' blades. Erik palmed two small explosive devices. The sleight -of-hand technique was vital in the subtle emplacement about the "panic room" structure. Knowing that his apprehensive, and valiant partner Mentar would try to save these men from death. Erik was a salesman of contracted slaying. Combatier appointed him that. And though, devilishly conniving in approach. He would see the mark through. (The deviant planting was to be concealed for the cartel men as well as for Mentar not to notice.)
"We are done here then mate? He would ask Frumentar, in order to continue onto Combatier's laundry list. Blowing this compounds central area could ensure the leaders died. With that, Erik would remove the vengeance owed them all. ( Combatier, Erik, and Frumentar)

《 in short....Grim cut into the pillar two fold.....one to show off and intimidate the cartel chiefs...and for two...to make weak spot for the secret and subtle chicanery of emplacing explosives to trigger when they exit. Hoping to hide this from Mentar and the cartel》

Frumentar grunted. He dropped Santos onto the floor with a heavy *thud!*

Frumentar turned his head when he heard the sirens. He was too distracted by his choking Santos to see Grim's bomb planting.

He turned to leave, making his way to the elevator without a word.
