Potential RP hotspot: The Lab Accident

I've been working on creating an IC club using the in game base system, and it's been difficult, but is nearing completion. The idea is to have a feasible site where anyone can gather and be free of griefers, in a plausible setting. Anyone who'd fit in and wants to use it, may... anyone who doesn't wish to, isn't forced to. So without further delay, here is the pitch:

Name: The Lab Accident ("The Lab" for short)
Location: Gotham, semi-mobile
Site Type: Club
IC Owner: The Collective
Faction: Neutral Ground (Flexible morals suggested)

Description: The Lab Accident is a secretive underground club that moves around Gotham, taking up residence in abandoned warehouses and industrial sites, moving regularly to avoid unwanted attention. As befitting Gotham, it is grungy, shady, and quasi-legal (fully illegal activities may take place there, depending on RP).

Decorated to represent the sort of underground lab or industrial site where the kind of accidents that create superheroes and villains happen, The Lab Accident is a "cape" club. Patrons attend in costume. This doesn't mean that any given patron is a villain or superhero however, most aren't; and while one must attend in costume, it doesn't have to be their own costume, by any means.

The Lab has no single owner, often set up by different people at different times, though there is only one instance running on any given night. It is fairly exclusive, with invites sent out to worthies by the collective (more secretive folk may recieve invitation via public posting, confirmed in private via dead drop or temporary email drop).

Security consists of local muscle, including the occasional metahuman. PCs may also step into this function if there's a plausible reason they might have been hired and they assume themselves to be on the job when they enter. Local gang members may serve in this role as well as long as they maintain neutrality when in the club.

So far there are three major areas of activity, shown below:

1) The Lounge.
Image
This is the bar area... most of the drinking, gambling and socializing takes place here. Most of the furniture is cheap and temporary; despite there being a rule against busting the place up, it has happened before. Players will have to use their imagination concerning NPC patronage and staff, until such a time as we're allowed NPC objects for bases. This includes the bartender, unless someone decides to RP working at the club. This could be almost anyone at any time, so feel free to spontaneously take up the position at any time as long as it seems plausible.

2) The Dancefloor
Image
This area is sparsely decorated to preserve room for its intended purpose: a place for dancing. The mainframe area is considered to represent the DJ's station... DJ is another position that could be assumed by a player for any given scene, if they wish, and the concept is plausible. The whole alcove in which the mainframe sits could be cordoned off for a live band, as well, although until we're given some chain link fences or something similar to place, it won't be visibly seperated from the rest of the floor.

3) The Pit
Image
Hidden away behind stacks of crates, boxes and other clutter, an area is sectioned off to be used by patrons to vent frustrations, settle disputes and spar with each other, if they so choose. This is restricted to activities which won't tear the building down, however. Such fights must be taken "outside" and preferably as far away from the club site as possible. Anyone smashing up a "Lab" or drawing police attention will not get a new invitation from the Collective when it moves sites.

There is also an "office" area upstairs, but I haven't finished it, lacking a good idea for a 'desk' and other furniture. It can be used for whatever other purpose in the meantime, and I'll take suggestions on what to do with it.

I've already added many people to the permission list for the Lab, which is currently in East Gotham. I may not move it physically very frequently, but it may move ICly anyway if RP circumstances demand. In such a case, simply consider it to have relocted to another area in East Gotham until I actually get around to physically moving it.

Hopefully, this won't be the last in-game RP Site to be established... I fully urge as many others as may be inspired to create their own, so that the community has a rich and varied list of potential locales to choose from.

If you want permission to enter The Lab, simply post here and I'll get to adding you as soon as I can. Please try to restrict requests to characters who aren't reputed to be likely to smash the place to smithereens; such individuals would not receive invitations (Although they may find it by other means, of course).

Note: Rules are posted on the wall next to the door when you come in. People will be referred to the rules when they arrive, unless they've been there often enough to be recognized by the bouncers.

The club is declared as neutral ground to everybody. If it happens to be in the territory of a particular gang, whoever's running it will contract the gang to protect the club and keep it neutral, as intended. This includes PC gangs, if they discover its location. Failure to maintain neutrality (by enforcing their own agenda) or threatening the club will result in the revocation of invitations to any members of said gang, and the immediate abandonment and moving of the club.

Reserved for the playlist suggestion list.

I'd also like to take playlist suggestions for music for the Lab, if anyone's interested. What I'll be doing is taking all suggestions given and checking Live365 for a free channel that hits as many of them as possible. That channel can be considered to represent the music playing at the Lab at any given time. Simply ignore the commercials/station announcements if you don't have VIP membership at Live365.

I love the look of this place. I would love to RP there. One question, are 16 year olds allowed in here? hehe

@DeadArc: Thanks, I hope others will also be inspired to create locales, Metro could use a similar one.

@Supergirly: a 16 year old could get in easily, anyone much younger might have to get creative. The club's dress code requires costume. Depending on the costume it can be hard to determine anyone's age. Whether or not you can get drinks depends on who's tending bar that night (and possibly how you flirt with 'em).

@Adora: I might be able to use another "chemical tubing" unit (the big panel in the lounge with the bubbling green tubes). And decoration suggestions for the top floor. Originally I'd planned it to be an office, but I could change my mind if I get the right idea.

Champagne Room? ;D

I like this. Been hoping for someone to set something like this up. Hm. Maybe that's something I can do with my Glenmorgan Square location...?

That's an interesting idea, in that case I might want to set up more couches and some screens. And Glenmorgan would be a fantastic site for a club in Metro...

I suppose I'll have to start gathering more base items, then. (You hear that, Proton?)

This sounds like a great idea! If I happen upon an item you'd want during my adventures, I'd be more than willing to donate. Maybe we can turn this into a truly unique place to RP!
