Re: ☽⌛ Beneath a Black Moon (Society of Justice Presents) ⌛ ☾

Synodic's voice echoed and Hayden heard him. However, it seemed that this crystal piece acted as a well devised communicator as well. Hayden held onto it with casual contempt. Unsure of the properties of magic to begin with.

Willing forth multiple protective elements. The green shield that in turn reached forth in varied shapes as he thought them. Had diminished with each creation. Revitalizing its source was gradual. But Hayden learned too many exertions spent its pooling. Including his flight, and protective force. Grounded on foot for the moment. As to rebuild the green flames berth. He witnessed many things about him after Clock Hand brought peace to the Clerks dilema. Crafting fortitude, speed and strength uncanny in expression.

Frey yielding the fleeing herd faired well without the green baricade placed around him. Though when the imagined wall manifested, Hayden fancied the notion he had helped the Vanir whether the God-Man had realized. Admittedly, Hayden only dismantled his arrival kitchen as a means to prevent explosive reactions to the Chaos abroad. Though, cutting power supply was futile, Especially with the geist-like animation of tools that Frey fended. Rice was graced NOT to be tormented with moving kitchen utensils or convections.

Hypnos unleashed his gas stream, while Trudy (Lilac) followed suit. With bought time, invested in momentary pause. Hayden mustered another ready ampage of Sentinel power again as he observed his allies. Hence, being alerted by Synodics declaration and Hypnos immediately engaging. Hayden ran a few steps foward before leaping to glided flight. Ring fist leading with a green smokey vapor trail. Glowing through the hazed dusky ominance around the area. Hayden reached down to Lilac and Clock Hand, (whom both were in line to head towards the perpetrator Emil's direction) as to offer hasteful aid in their run.

" Need a lift?" Hayden called to Lilac and Clock.

Lilac's eyes quickly adjusted to the darkness, a smile on her face. "I hope you aren't afraid of the dark, boys." She saI'd and ran to the man. She wanted to beat him up for hurting all of those people , and for getting blood on her shoes from the portal, but when she saw the look of fear on his face, her opinion softened.

She sighed and watched Hypnosis try to put him to sleep. She watched to see if it took affect. "Poor fat, ugly guy..." She said, shaking her head.

The long spray of purple struck Emil center mass and then vaporized; a cloud of gas forming around his head. He desperately felt around his chest as if looking for a bullet wound or other injury but them Emil's eyes rolled backward as the gas did its work. The heavy man crumpled onto his legs and fell back onto the cold, dirty mall floor. As a result, all of the sunlight-bright portals scattered throughout the mall blinked closed. People and merchandise that had been passing through the portal had nowhere to go now and fell unceremoniously to the floor.

The clerk Clock Hand had saved hesitated as if merely saying appreciative words were not enough but with the mall going dark, who really knew what was coming next? He didn't want to find out; the man managed little verbally and ran through the emergency exit as fast as he could, the door slamming closed behind him. Clock Hand departed the store he was in and was not in the main hall, the light emanating from Dr. Synodic now easier for him to see.

"What manner of sorcery is this?" Frey Njordosn asked Dr Synodic.

The sorcerer hovered back a couple of feet and when he frowned beneath his helmet, the helmet itself appeared to shift and move to show his disdain. "Not sorcery, Njordson. Not at all. This is mortal work, the spawn of their own machinations," he seemed to sneer.

A green, misty glow approached, and it was fair to assume that this would be the Sentinel but it wasn't easy to tell if he carried the others or was coming alone. Synodic could feel the presence of his own magics on those that carried the gems he gifted them. For now, the only wildcard was Clock Hand.

"What a scattered mess you remain," Dr. Synodic protested. "Without aim or direction, much like the portals that this one summoned.," He motioned to the sleeping form of the portal-controller sleeping noisily beneath his feet. "No control. No precision. A dull instrument," he continued, "against Injustice. What hope have you -any of you- against the looming threat?" Despite there being only the light of his own magnificence and that of the Starheart, a shadow could be seen pass over the body and head of Dr. Synodic. It was dark violet and ugly and the dark gold hue of his helmet seemed to have grown a face of its own and it looked upon the gathered Sentinels with much displeasure.

Holstering his pistol, Morpheus, and walking over to the downed man Hypnos pulled out a pair of long, heavy-duty zipties out from his belt. With practiced ease he would roll Emil over, tying up his hands and feet, checking his pulse to make sure the man was alright.

"Well now..." He said, straightening back up, and looking around the near destroyed mall. "This does seem rather...Meaningless. No goal. No robbery. No single target. So--Why?"Frowning he would reach into his belt, pulling out a portable finger-printing kit, and getting down on one knee he would start printing Emil, wiping the ink away after every use so as to leave no trace.

Absorbed as he was he did not see the shadow pass across Synodic's mask, he did not see that the fire in his dreams still roared...

☽⌛ Beneath a Black Moon (Society of Justice Presents) ⌛ ☾

"That will be fine, my friend. This old granfather clock is still ticking," Clock Hand jested at the Sentinel's offer. He gave him a casual salute as he sped up towards his destination.

By the time the time-themed hero screeched to a halt, the seeming culprit of the mayhem had been dispatched.

"Splendid job, you lot did," he remarked as he checked his watch once again. "And right on time, as well," he thought. He had hardly a quarter of an hour left.

Before he could run off once more, however, he noticed the change in disposition of one of the members, the one calling themselves Doctor Synodic, though the name itself was unknown to Clock Hand.

"Now, now, this is hardly appropriate. Even if you feel that there is some problem with your group, surely you have to recognise that no civillians were harmed. In the end, protecting the innocent is the point of putting on the cape and tights, isn't it?" he asked.

"Your assessment is misjudged Wizard"Frey rebutted. "When chaos struck we all came here, some by our own means rather than relying on your 'gift'. And while we were not coordinated, we protected civilians as we could. Deaths occurred, yes, regrettably. The perpetrator has been brought low, though from appearances I would hazard he is not solely at fault here." The Vanir pointed to the middle class man's attire. "Hardly the garb of one who serves Injustice or their Harbingers. Rather one who has perhaps been cursed or infected by one of those troublesome insects."

Each were naive to this new lot of life. Each inexperienced, though highly capable. Efficiency hadnt paid out high to the end of Emil's 'disaster-piece'. As Hayden departed his offering towards Lilac and Clock Hand. He shot beside Hypnos. Amidst Synodic's critique of the groups efforts.

"Good work, Good work and efficient. " Hayden complimented Nodd's fingerprinting in a low mention. In contrast to Doctor Synodic snarking judgement.Though in brutal truth were his words. It was poor projection, and nil timing to do so.

Staring at the mysterious team mate, Hayden with held his blatant contempt. Standing before this 'wild card', Emil. Frey mustve engaged Synodics words already. Looking on to Doctor Synodics conversation, Hayden noticed a quirk. What seemed to be a Shade or reflection obscured across the Doctor? Perhaps, it was nothing...or worst...more of Emil's power?.....

"Your run is over." Hayden leaned down to Emil. Shofting focus back to perpetrator.

"Enough of the games!" He urged the fallen portal shifter. Hands upon the scriff of Emil's shirt if he was able to.

Lilac smiled as Emil was grabbed and pinned down. "He needs to be held accountable for his actions. But that makes me think... what if it wasn't him that made him open the portals. Or maybe he lost control."

It made sense. The guy probably couldn't control himself and that's why things got out of hand. "Either way, he's safer, as are the others around him. "

Re: ☽⌛ Beneath a Black Moon (Society of Justice Presents) ⌛ ☾

Still hovering above the now incapacitated form of Emil, Dr. Synodic watched as Hypnos captured the man's fingerprints, Sentinel and Trudy chastised him and the newcomer and Frey Njordson congratulated themselves for a job well done. "Different reactions, no agreement on the tool's willingness to carry out these acts. No order in your words or your response," Synodic counted off. "And you know, Harbinger of the Vanir, that the threat I speak of is not this unemployed man at my feet."

Dr Synodic lifted a hand from his now-purplish cloak and turned his palm up to the damaged mall ceiling. Violet and black energies coalesced around his fingers. "And speaking of unemployed... Emil Howard is an unwilling recipient of his gift. A gift that makes him more than mortal. But he is without the training or knowledge of how to use that gift for order... or chaos. Simply the power, without the discipline or knowledge of how to use it. He is no villain." The same energies grew as an aura around Emil, lifting him up in front of Synodic. The incapacitated summoner of portals was motionless just before his eyes snapped open.

"And the same could be said of all of you." Synodic's words were punctuated by the light emanating from Emil's eyes' and open mouth, the same black and violet that was Dr Synodic's own aura now. Then came more light. A ring of ten vertical discs of yellow light formed around the hovering Dr. Synodic and Emil and whomever was close enough to the two. The discs blinked like awakening eyes and opened up to something unknown; orderly cardboard cut-outs that were dimensional gapes in time and space.

And from the ten portals of yellowish light came the walking feet and swaying arms of many things. Creatues no taller than four feet tall, some with black metal swords, some with black metal knives and staves and others with... explosives? The Shadow Imps wore pieces of armor over the black and purplish skin and their large, pierced batwing like ears danced as they moved. Some set directly upon the gathered heroes, while others ran off to arrange for dastardly acts elsewhere in the mall.

They swarmed out from the portal until there were easily dozens to contend with and when Dr. Synodic was apparently satisfied with their number, he moved his puppeteer like fingers and Emil Hoard followed in kind. The portals began to turn on invisible axis' until the open mouth of each of them faced inwardly toward Synodic and Emil and whomever was nearby. A great yellow light, mixed with violet and black began to build in the ring's center.

As the Grim Sentinel grabbed Emil out from underneath Hypnos's hands, the mystery man sighed. "He's asleep Sentinel." He said, with a shake of his head, returning the finger-printing equipment to his utility-belt.

"I can run a background check once I get back, figure out where he has--" Hypnos said, cut off as Synodic began explaining Emil's circumstances. "Oh, well that would have been helpful to kn--" Again Hypnos stopped talking as Synodic grabbed Emil with magic, and began to open up portals, summoning out swarms of Shadow-Imps.

"Oh...Well that explains why you didn't tell us about this 'Emil' sooner, or give us time to prep." Hypnos said, pulling out his right pistol again, his thumb flicking a switch on it's back.

"Blah, blah, blah--DARK DREAMS!" He shouted pulling the trigger, spewing out a purple cloud of sleep-gas at a swarm of the Shadow-Imps that had tried to get past the group.

Turning on his heels he aimed the gun up at the ceiling above Synodic and Emil and pulled the second trigger, the 'wirepoon' shooting out, pulling cord up through the gun from the belt. After it lodged in place he would reach down, hitting the motors on his belt and with a whir he got pulled up, zooming up over the portals Synodic had arranged around himself, hoping to drop in from above.
